On our way to our first class, Potions with Gryffindor, Draco had said that he had forgotten to take his Blood Replenishing Potion today, so he was just going to nip into his dormitory to drink his daily dosage. I had watched him go, but only reluctantly. Seeing as last time he had left to go somewhere by himself he had almost died.
So I was left walking to class with Harry, Ron and Hermione. "So, um, where didja get that spell, Harry?" I asked casually as we hurried down the stone hallways, "I mean, it seemed pretty, uh, Dark Artsy..." Harry gave Hermione a helpless glance.
"For god's sake, Harry, just tell her." She answered wearily.
"Well, I just kinda found it in the Potions book Slughorn gave me," Harry conceded, "I didn't know it was dangerous, I swear..." Harry trailed off for we had just entered Professor Slughorn's classroom.

Draco was late. He hurried into the class breathless, cutting Slughorn off in the middle of his lecture about Amortentia, the strongest Love Potion whose scent changed to whatever the person who smelled it was attracted to. The first thing I noticed about Draco was that he was nursing a black eye, the second thing was that he had, in fact, taken the Blood Replenishing Potion because his cheeks had a rosier tint to them, either that or he was just embarrassed about his tardiness. Taking his seat beside me, Draco ignored the wondering eyes that stared at his face. At least he wasn't making a big deal about the injury, that was a change. "If I can continue please?" Said Slughorn, casting Draco a questioning look before starting where he left off. "Now, everyone will get a turn to sniff this and to tell the class, unless, of course, it is too personal." Giving, what he must've thought was a cheeky grin. "Now who would like to go first?" Nobody's hand rose for at least five minutes. I swear I could hear crickets chirping in the background, this guy was almost as bad as Lockhart! At this moment, Slughorn seemed to have lost a bit of his enthusiasm, but he didn't give up. "Alright then, Miss Granger, you can go first." Hermione rose tentatively, for the first time this year, she was not
excited on being called.
"Well, I smell," she said, inhaling deeply, "new parchment, freshly mown grass, spearmint toothpaste and..." She blushed, "and that's it." Blushing to a deeper shade of crimson, Hermione sat down.
"Next, Mr. Longbottom." Minutes ticked by as one by one as students gradually got up and to smell the potion. I hadn't been paying attention at all, I wanted to go last, hoping the class would end before I got a chance. I only perked up a little when Draco's name got called. Standing up, he stalked towards the cauldron, his facial expressions made it obvious that he would prefer to be anywhere but here. He sniffed.
"A pine forest and cinnamon." He spat the words out hastily, like they had tasted bad in his mouth, and then sat down.
"Perfect," Slughorn's cheesy smile broadened. "And last but not least, Miss Riddle." Heart sinking, I slowly trudged towards the potion, I already knew what the scent would be, so what really was the point?
"Strawberries, apple pie, lemon laundry detergent, and some sort of... cologne." I stated tonelessly, then I fled from the cauldron. The bell rung signalling the end of the class just as I had sat taken my place at my desk, gathering my things, I left for Transfiguration, relief spreading through my body. I needed out of there. Slughorn hated me, I guess in the end he hadn't been a big fan of my father when he had taught him either.

After that we had Transfiguration which had been extremely easy for me, it was by far my strongest subject, and I enjoyed it immensely. Sometimes, when I was bored in the common room, I would Transfigured a couch or chair, or sometimes even the fireplace into a piano and I would play away to my hearts content. Before I had started going to Hogwarts, I would lock myself in my bedroom after I had murdered someone, or to keep myself from my nightmarish father. In my room, there had been an ancient grand piano that was surprisingly still in tune, I taught myself how to play, and right now, I considered myself a master.
Heading down the hallway after Transfiguration, I hurried to catch up with Draco. Finally catching up, I caught his arm, breathless. "Draco, what the hell happened to your eye?" I demanded, pulling him into the library. Madame Pince gave us an ugly look.
"Your lovely little blood traitor friend decided to sabotage me on my way to our common room." He responded savagely.
In response, I punched him in the stomach. Hard. "She's not a blood traitor, and it serves you right for being an asshole to her."
"She socked me in the face because I kissed you. I don't think I deserve it for that reason." He responded in a slightly more calm tone.
"She's still on about that?" I sighed, utterly defeated, "sometimes I wonder where that girl gets her motivation from."
