I was having a mental breakdown.

Rose was gone, and facing charges for shooting somebody. Alex was also freaking out but trying not to show it. And Eli was sitting in shock, in the front seat of my car, outside Rose's house.

Her mother was the person she shot. And it was only in the foot.

Apparently, her mother had threatened Henry when he had tried to help her with something. He had brought up bad memories of his father, and she had pulled a gun. Rose had somehow gotten another gun, and shot her mother in the foot.

Now she was gone, her mother in the hospital, and Raven and Henry both being questioned. I wondered if I had been to harsh to her back in the car, but then again, she'd shot someone and gotten away with it.

I watched as Alex continued tapping his finger nervously, as Eli bit down on his lip and drew his beanie down lower. I sighed and started the car, looking at Alex.

"Well where would she go?" I asked, watching him. Since him and Rose had become a couple we had grown somewhat closer than before, but we were still kind of awkward, knowing that the other
was dating our best friend.

He looked up at me, and instantly I knew he had no clue where Rose had gone. I cursed heavily taking the car out of park and driving to Alex's house. I stared at him as he watched the world go by numbly. I had to take charge because clearly these boys weren't going to.

"Alex go get your sister we need her."

Mackenzie Grace joined us soon after that, giving Eli a fist bump when she got into the car. I immediately got down to it.

"Mackenzie we need to know if you could know where Rose is."
I said, watching her in the back mirror.

She looked up, staring into my eyes with shockingly pale blue ones. She reminded me of the angel statues people made for cathedrals. Beautiful, but infinitely cold. She stayed silent for a moment. Finally, she spoke.

"Of course I know where she is," she said, watching me uninterested. "There's a lake outside of town that I showed her. She'll be there. She wrote down directions on one of those crappy school paper towels and handed it to me before getting out of the car. "Good luck, Jenny." And with that, the coldest little girl I had ever known stalked out of the car, and back into her house.

I looked over at Alex. He was still in shock, but Eli was fully functional by now. I sighed and started up the car again, driving off to find a criminal with a cancer patient and a shell-shocked boy.

My life is strange like that. But then again, maybe it was time to face the angels.
