In order to prove to his father that his words were not just empty threats, Ashton went up to his room after dinner and packed up all his things. Within the hour, he had all his luggage by the front door, and one of the maids had gone to inform John Irwin that his son Ashton was determined to leave the house. His father, dressed in an expensive business suit with his tie loosened as it was whenever he was home from work in the afternoon, looked at his only son with a bitter smirk.
"What do you think you're doing, son?" He asked the nineteen year old standing by the door. Now, Ashton wore what he wanted to wear. He no longer wore those button up shirts his father insisted he'd wear, or the fine pressed slacks. No, he was going to wear band shirts and skinny jeans because it was what he liked. He wanted to be a musician. It had never been his intention to become a business man like his father.
Ashton wore a defiant look on his face as he responded. "If you won't let me do what I want, then I'll leave. I'm nineteen years old now."
His father nodded, "Nineteen years old, but you don't understand that everything you have ever had was because I gave it to you. That car you drive? Mine. This house? Mine. That brand new cellphone you got for Christmas? Mine. Your tuition at the university? I pay it. If you leave this house, everything else stays." John warned, concluding in his words that in leaving the house, Ashton could take nothing with him.
Ashton reached into his pocket and grabbed his car keys. "Keep your things then." He then pushed forward his luggage full of his clothes and belongings. Lastly, he grabbed his phone and let it drop to the floor with a thud. He saw the look of shock on his father's face and made sure to take a mental picture of it. He was standing up for himself, and though he thought there was a chance things wouldn't work out for him, he knew that living anywhere else was better than living in the same house with his dad.
He turned on his heel left the house in the next minute, deciding to never look back.

Ashton took a twenty minute walk until he reached town. He had no cellphone on him, no car, no clothes to change into, and no place to stay in. What he did have at the moment was his wallet with a few dollars in it and his credit cards. He knew his father would probably call to have them cancelled within the next minutes, if he hadn't done so already, so he figured he wouldn't be able to use them.
He couldn't call Narda. For one, he had no cellphone. And also, there was the fact that her mother Jerika had never been too fond of him. He was glad that he at least had a few options to choose from. There were his mates Luke, Calum, and Michael. He could probably call them and stay at one of their places until he could find a job and a permanent place to stay. There was also his uncle, Paul Irwin, who was a professor at the university where he studied. Also, he could probably call Narda and Noelia's grandmother. She had always been kind to Ashton and his sisters despite the fact that they were not related to her.
If things got to worse, his last resort was becoming a homeless person and sleeping on a park bench. But he doubted things would get that bad for him.
He walked into a tiny restaurant in the middle of town and asked if he could use their phone. The nice young lady at the counter gladly allowed it, and had even tried to flirt with him before he mentioned to her that he had a girlfriend. Him and Narda were not absolutely official yet, but he certainly felt that way.
Ashton called his mates first. Luke answered the phone after the first few rings. "Hello?" The blue eyed boy said into the phone from the other line. He didn't recognize the phone number in his caller ID, but he always made sure to answer it in case of an emergency.
"Luke, its Ashton." He said into the phone, relieved that his friend had answered.
"Why does my caller ID say Gloria's Mexican Restaurant?" Luke wondered aloud.
The hazel eyed boy heaved a sigh. "I ran away from home, and my dad took all of my things. So I walked into town and borrowed a phone from the first restaurant I saw. My dad is such a fucking prick."
Chuckling, Luke replied, "Well, give us the address and we'll go pick you up."
Since he was talking about us and we, Ashton assumed that he was with Calum and Michael. He told his friend the address and they promised they'd be there to help him within a few minutes.

It was a few days after the Hillman's had moved out of John Irwin's house. Narda, her two sisters, and her mother Jerika had been staying at a hotel until they could find an apartment to live in. Narda had been practicing hard all week because her tournament in France was approaching. And as the date got closer, Jerika was unable to head to France with her daughter.
She placed her hands on her daughter's shoulders and whined, "I wish I could go with you, sweetie."
Narda only sighed.
She didn't want to show it, but she was rather glad that her mother was unable to go. Jerika was rude to Narda's gymnastics team mates, she was always fussing about Narda, and she never gave her any space to be alone. Narda felt suffocated when her mother was around. Having her coach Vanessa around was bad enough, but having them both with her was almost unbearable.
Narda departed from Australia with her gymnastics coach, and was on her way to the tournament in France. She was going to have about a week pf prep time upon arriving there, then the tournament itself would last another week.
She was anxious to get out of Australia.
Since they had moved out of the Irwin's house, things had been hectic between her mother and her sisters. Jerika had immediately demanded for Noelia to go out and get a job, threatening that if she was unable to get one during the next few days, she would no longer get to return. Narda had gotten into an argument with her mother over that, and though Noelia had been able to get a job, the eighteen year old was fed up by her mother. Noelia moved out soon after and left Sydney to move with her grandmother.
Narda and Nikki had been very upset with their mother, but Jerika was overjoyed. It was one less mouth to feed, as she saw it.
Jerika was unable to leave with her daughter because of the divorce. It was keeping her in Australia so that she could deal with everything. In addition, she was dealing with a custody battle. John Irwin wanted their daughter Nikki to live with him, but Jerika wanted Nikki to live with her. Neither of them had stopped to even ask what the twelve year old wanted.
It was because of all those things that Narda Hillman was more than happy to leave for a couple of weeks. But she didn't suspect that those would not be the last of her problems.
