"Addison your home, how was school?" Addie answered her foster mom the same way she had everyday. "it was school. How was your day?" Her mom smiled and hugged her. "Today was great Addie, i have good news." Addie smiled. Some good news would be great right now. "What is it?" Her mom looked at her with a big smile. "I've arranged for you to meet with your birth father!" Addie's smile faded quickly. "Isn't he in prison?" Her mom responded "no he got out a couple weeks ago and he wants to see you isn't that great?" Addie's heart began to beat out of her chest. of course it wasn't great. Hadn't anyone informed her of why he was in prison? "Addie are you okay? I figured you'd be happy."
"y yea I'm okay." she couldn't tell her that she set up a meeting with the man that killed my mother out of drunken rage. She'd feel so bad shed just have to tell her I'm not ready to talk to him yet. "Is it too late to cancel? I just don't think I'm ready to talk to him. He hasn't been in my life for so long i just don't really want to talk to him." The look in her moms eyes that was once joy was now concern. "Of course we can cancel. Is there something you want to talk about Addie?"
"No not really, i have a lot of homework though so I'm gonna go get started." she grabbed her book bag and headed up the stairs to her room. She slung her bag onto the bed and started towards the dresser, grabbing the picture frame gently. As she looked at the last picture she had of her mother, she fell to her knees clinging to the dusty frame.
