I began to get ready for move in day at college. I was so excited to be attending Loyal University. I was a little bit nervous because the campus was huge but it was also beautiful. The campus had beautiful trees everywhere with flowers planted by ever door. The grass was freshly cut and a beautiful green. The campus was eye catching for sure.
"Are you done packing yet, Amari?" My mother yelled out.
"Give me ten more minutes maybe twenty. I'm doing a last minute check to make sure I don't forget anything" I yelled back
I went towards my mirror to make sure I looked somewhat decent. I didn't want to be extremely cute since it was just move in day. I know I would be mad if I was to ruin a cute outfit. I had on a nice fitted pair of black sweats and a nice grey crop top. I had on my black Roshes so my feet could be comfortable. I put my curly brown hair in a messy bun and topped it off with a nice black visor. Comfy but still cute is what my outfit gave off. I didn't wear no make up because I wasn't feeling it today. I still thought I was cute though.
I began to look around my room and it was so empty. This move out was starting to hit me a little bit. It looked like I packed my whole room as if I was not coming back at all. I separated the things I wanted with me from the things I know I will barely use or wear. That process took about two hours or even more. I have so many clothes that I need to give away. I didn't realize I had so much clothes until today. By the look of things I think I was about ready to head to the school.
"Mom, I'm ready. Tell dad I need help bringing these bags down." I shouted to my mom.
My parents had been married for about twenty five years and they were still happy. They look at each other everyday as if it was the first time they laid eyes on each other. It was pure love in their eyes. They were also childish. I would hear them pranking each other around the house. You would think I had younger siblings running around the house. Looking at them made me want love like that. Only time will tell.
"Baby girl you ready to go." My dad asked
"Yeah I think I am. I have everything I need. I've checked about ten times so I should be sure" I said
"You nervous?" He asked with a smile
"A little bit. It's going to be different not waking up to you guys and my breakfast already cooked" I said
"You will be okay. Just see this as a learning experience of you being away from the nest. You always said you wanted to know how it feels to be grown. This is your opportunity." He said through chuckles
"I know but I'm only about to be nineteen years old. I'm still a baby." I said through a whine
"You definitely ain't a baby. Now grab some bags so we can get this truck loaded."

1hour later
My college wasn't too far from home. I wanted to stay close just incase an emergency was too happen but also wanted to be far enough to were my parents can't just visit whenever. It was perfect distance away from home.We pulled into the parking lot of my dorm building. It was so many people everywhere. The movers were moving at such a fast pace. We pulled into a free spot so we could start unloading.
"Excuse me. I'm Ashley. I came over here to let you know that you only have twenty to thirty minutes to unload and move from this spot. Failing to do so will result in a ticket or you will be towed. Welcome to Loyal University and I hope you enjoy your move in day." The crew member said
"Okay thank you." My father said
We begin to unpack real quickly. We got a cart and put my five bags into it and we got another cart to put my food and school supplies inside. We was pretty much done unloading the car. I was pretty organized when it came to my stuff. The organization made this process simple and easy.
"Tasha, I need you to stay at the car so they won't tow me." My dad said
"Okay, Brian. Hurry back so I can help her unpack" My mother said
I went to the check in desk to get my key. The crew members were so nice. I got my key to room 420. I didn't know if my roommate was inside. I had never met her to be honest. I just know her name is Leah Lee and she is a black girl about my height. As I could tell by her pictures.
We made it to my room and it was a decent size. The closet was very roomy and I could walk inside. The bathroom was the same size as mines back at home so it was nothing new. It was only a shower and no bath. The bed was up high and the desk was like a normal desk but long.
"Okay baby girl. That's everything. I love you and your mother is on her way up here." He said as he smiled and kissed me on the cheek
"Okay and love you too pops" I said as I smiled
I was a daddy's girl so it was hard for me to say bye to my dad. He taught me everything I know. He taught me sports. He taught me how to work on cars. He taught me how to do lawn work. He always said that a lady should know how to do manly things so she won't have to depend on man. Those lesson actually came in handy.
"You ready to get unpacked and bring this room to life" my mom asked
"Yes I am."
Unpacking took two hours. Getting my clothes unpacked and getting everything rearranged how I wanted it took up most of the time. My closet was full of jackets and blouses. And the dressers were full of shirts, shorts and pants. I finally felt comfortable and at home. I had my decor of inspirational words and phrases on the wall. Also had my bible nearby on my desk. My bathroom smelled clean and fresh because my mom said it needed to be clean. I was finally set.
"Okay well seems like your moved in. I have to go but I love you baby girl. Make sure you be safe when it comes to these little boys. I don't want you bringing no babies home. Your brother already made me a grandma. Don't make me a double grandma just yet." My mom said with a serious face.
"Okay okay mom. I know and I love you."
She gave me a hug and kiss then left me to myself in the room. I knew I was going to forget something and that was my TV.
