8 Years Later...
Blood clouded my vision as I watched them take her away. They roughly dragged her to the towns center and pushed her on her knees.
I caught the eye of the person standing over them.
He was mocking me.
Governor Gray.
Pure horror courses through me as a soldier, clad in navy, lifted a gloved hand, a gun pointed at my sister.
The click of the safety being switched off echoed through the town, still burning.
She's going to die. And it's all my fault.
"Kela!" My voice rang out through the square as a gun shot went off.
"No!" I sobbed trying to-"Amya! Amya wake up!" A voice echoed through my head, and hands tightened around my shoulders.
My eyes shot open, but my body didn't stop shaking.
"Hey, it's okay. It was only a dream. You're okay." A soothing voice came from my right.
I turned over to see Gavin, his mouth was in a tight straight line, and his eyes were glazed with sympathy and exhaustion.
"Gosh G I'm sorry." Guilt stabbed through me, I had been keeping them up lately with my constant nightmares.
Gavin, aka G, and Levi are two of The Three. They rescued me from the grasps of Governor Gray eight treacherous years ago. I had been ready to sacrifice myself for my family's safety but they stopped me.
We have been in hiding and constantly on the run. Right now we have taken shelter at a small town in the outer sector of the Galaxy, on a the planet Alment. A nice old man, Sebastian, allowed us shelter in his small family owned mechanic shop.
Sebastian is actually quite in shape for a 62 year old. His hair has long ago become grey, but his face holds minimal wrinkles. My favorite part of Sebastian is the rebellious glint that always seems to appear in his eyes. He reminds me so much of my father.
Sebastian was a former member of a group that tried to rebel against the dictatorship Governor Gray had over the Galaxy. In that attempt, Sebastian lost his wife and two children, they were taken and he never saw them again.
He risked a lot and now he's risking his own live harboring us but he insisted not to worry, he wanted to help us.
We are living in behind a hidden door under the floor boards of his workshop. He traded some goods to get us three worn, but comfortable mattresses that we have spread out on the floor with our embarrassing little amount of belongings by them.I sit up on my mattress, wiping the precipitation that danced across my forehead.
It was just a dream.
It was just a dream. Kela is fine.
Even though I have no way of knowing that because I haven't seen her in eight years and-
No stop she is okay.
I hope.
"It's all right Amya, I just want you to be okay. Don't worry about us." Gavin said with a genuine smile, taking my still shaking hands in his own.
"Thank you." I whispered, aware of Levi's soft snore coming from his mattress on my right.
"Come here." Gavin whispered as he took me into his strong arms, engulfing me in a comforting and slightly hesitant hug, until I drifted off to sleep.
______________________"Rise and shine Sleepy Head!" A small shake woke me from my peaceful slumber.
I mumbled five more minutes but it came out more as a growl."Don't growl at me, wake up!" Gavin's amused voice finally made me open my eyes.
"Sleepy Head? That's a new one." I croaked out in my morning voice.
Gavin had a habit of making up nicknames for me. My favorite would have to be Kelp Head, that's when I fell in a near by pond trying to find Glumpa berries.
"Well if you could see your hair you would understand!" Gavin said, humor twinkling behind his eyes as he tossed me a hair brush.
"Hey!" I said throwing a blanket over my head in embarrassment.
Footsteps echoed over head and there was three taps in a familiar beat on the small hatch door above our heads.
Levi got up off of his mattress and knocked back in our secret tap and a few seconds later the door swung open and Sebastian hobbled down the old wooden steps causing them to groan and creek.
"Mornin kiddos!" He sang in a cheery voice, even at this early hour he was a jolly fellow.
"What's up Sebastian?" Levi asked, sitting neatly folding his blanket and setting it on his mattress. He has always had a thing about being neat and organized, can't say the same about my sleeping area...
"Well I thought it was about time I help you lot train." Sebastian replied, clapping his hands together happily.
"Wait, what do you mean?" Gavin asked, still confused, as was I but a trickle of dread rose in me as I guessed where this conversion was leading.
"You guys are going to train with your powers."
I had to stop myself from letting out a small desperate scream. Dread took over me, this is a bad and dangerous idea. Last time I used my powers I was lucky to make it out alive, unlike the others...
Heyo! Sorry this chapter is a little short but I'll try to make them longer in the future!
