Better Than Revenge (A Toby McDonough Love Story/Fanfiction)

Chapter 2

~Kathy~

Today was the day that I would start my revenge plot. I woke up already having that evil smirk on my face. I headed off to the bathroom and got ready. My contacts burned my eyes, but I bared through the pain. I walked to my closet and picked out my outfit. I decided to wear a pink crop top with a white undershirt, short shorts, and high tops.

I ate a light breakfast and headed out the door. I knocked on Mitchie's door and we walked to school. I told her that I use to attend the school. I didn't tell her the reason why I left in the first place. I was afraid that she would introduce herself to Toby and she'll get hurt because she's the "New Girl".

We made it to school and went into the office. We walked to the counselor's office and got our schedules. I had all the teachers that Thomas had, they were really nice. Well to Thomas they were, but I trust him. 

I still had the same locker because we have to stick with the same locker until we graduate. "Nice to have you back Ms. Santiago." Ms.Rivers said to me. I headed off to my locker and put the books in. 

I looked at my schedule and had Calculus first. I closed my locker and saw Toby standing there. "Yes?"  I asked. He leaned over the locker right next to mine, looking as attractive as ever. He was wearing a varsity jacket and a black shirt, with black skinny jeans and high tops. His arms were crossed over his chest and I swear I just wanted to kiss him. But I couldn't

"I told you I would see you tomorrow." He smirked. Gosh he is so cute. I want to back out so badly, but I can't I know my own strengths and weaknesses now. I know how to handle this. "Now what's your first class?" He said grabbing my schedule. "Looks like we have calculus, government, and all the other classes you have, together." 

I just nodded and looked down,holding my books close to my chest. He stood up straight and put two fingers under my chin to make me look at him. "I never got to know your name beautiful."

I kept staring into his beautiful brown eyes. I lightly put my hand on his wrist and said, "You'll find out soon." I walked away and headed off to homeroom which was also calculus. Toby caught up to me and we walked to class together.

I waited in the front of the class to find out which seat I have to sit in. Ms. Madrigal walked in and said, "Class we have a returning student, please welcome Kathy Santiago. Welcome back Kathy, you may in that empty seat over there." She pointed to the seat next to Toby and Macy. 

I walked over to my seat and hey both looked at me with a surprised reaction. "Kat? Is that really you?" I heard Macy say. I pretended like I didn't hear her and just focused on the board.

The whole time in calculus I felt Toby's and Macy's stare. After calculus was government, I saw some familiar faces and unfamiliar faces. I was recieving the attention I wanted, I was finally feeling popular. But I want to graduate smart and be popular. I'm letting "popularity" ruin my chances of getting myself into a good college.

Finally, I reached my locker and grabbed my government book. As I closed it I saw Macy standing there. "Why did you change?"

I sighed, knowing I couldn't ignore her forever. "I changed because I hated being the nerdy girl in glasses. I couldn't stand all the hurtful comments that everyone made towards me."

"I'm sorry I didn't defend you when you needed me the most." She had a sympathetic look on her face.

"It's okay. But I told you to call me when your popularity becomes less important to you. I guess that's all you care about." I said walking away. 

Once I walked away, I knew I made her feel really guilty for what she did. I felt eyes staring at me, but I didn't care. All I cared about was being popular, so Toby would finally like me and I can just reject him.

I walked to class and the only seat that was available was next to Toby. Wow, thanks for making that the only seat available. I sat next to him and he continued to stare. "K-Kathy?"

Was he really this shocked? "Yes Toby, that's my name ."

"But how? Weren't you-"

"Different? It's called changing your image. Since I'm back I finally want to know what it feels like to be "popular" and have some nice attention on me for once."

The teacher walked in and that was the cue for everyone to stop talking. "Well Macy and my brothers are going on a little trip on Friday for Winter break. Do you want to tag along?"

I though about it for a moment, I could make him want me more on this little "trip". "Okay sure."

The whole day Toby made me feel wanted. I actually know what it feels like to be popular, but I'm not giving up that easily. It's going to take a lot more than kissing up for me to let my guard down. Macy apologized and is proving to me that she's not how she was two years ago. 

I walked home with Mitchie and we talked about how our day went, she also said that she made a whole bunch of friends. I was happy that she made new friends because it's hard at Lakewood for new people. But she was a junior and I'm a senior, so we had different classes.

Once I arrived home I got a phone call. "Hello?" It was Macy. We ended up talking for a really long time, just like old times. "Are you and Toby still-"

"No!" She laughed, answering a little too quick. "We broke up after a month you left. He was kissing someone girl at a house party that Before You Exit performed at." 

She told me everything that happened and she told me about the trip next week. We will be going camping and that it'll be for two weeks. Well technically first we will go camping then after two days we will go to a beach house that the boys bought.

It was now Friday and I told Macy my plan to get revenge on Toby. She liked it so she enforced it. I didn't want it to "accidentally" slip up, so I made sure that when ever she hung out with him I was there. 

As for Toby, he still tried to flirt with me. Whether it was whispering something into my ear and allowing his lips to brush against my ear or slipping his arm around my waist, I would teasingly brush him off. I watched as he grew more infatuated with me.

"I never thought I would see this side of him." Macy said.

I scrunched my eyebrows and gave her a confused look. "What do you mean?"

"You've actually made Toby go insane, He hates the fact that you won't let him have you." 

I laughed at her comment, "I'm not a pair of shoes Mace." 

"I know but he never looked at me like the way he looks at you."

We walked to Science together. "Well maybe I'm the first girl that's a challenge and hasn't constantly thrown herself at him. "

"I'm starting to see the side of Toby that I never knew existed."

Did I really make him mad? Did we just see the real Toby come out?
