In The Shadows

Creepy.....ish?

"This is a dagger. How does it feel?" Percy asked. I peered at the lightweight bronze item in my hand. Twirling it in my hand, I gave out a small smile.

"It's nice. I like it." My gaze found the black haired boy. "Do I get to fight now?"

A unfamiliar voice filled the room. "I don't know. Percy might whip your butt." They said, walking into the room.

I turned to see the a familiar character. It was Thalia. The Thalia Grace. I walked up to her without hesitation, and hugged her. I hugged her so hard, she was gasping for breath.

I knew she'd think I was crazy but she was one of the people in the series that I looked up to. And she was a badass.

When I pulled away,Thalia braced her hands on her knees to catch her breath

I was vaguely aware of Percy behind us. I could literally feel his stare on my back as I smiled at the supposed 'made up' character standing in front of me.

Thalia looked up at me. But it looked more like a glare. I shrugged it off.

I mean how could I be afraid of one of my favorite characters in my all time favorite series?

Anyways, back to the situation which might result in me having an injury.

And that was never good. So I decided with two plans,both of which could prolong me still ending up with something broken.

So how to explain? I had no idea. And that's saying something for someone who has all A's on their report card.

Ok. Not real A's. I kind of forged them by bribing someone to do it.

But hey,what can you expect from an ADHD and dyslexic child? Perfection? So not in my vocabulary.

Damn it. I always seem to get off track while in life threatening situations.

Oh well,guess I have to explain the whole 'I hate people but will hug a random person I just met not even two seconds ago' attitude.

"Um sorry about the whole hugging thing Thalia, it's just that you're my favorite character in the book and I couldn't believe I'm meeting you and now I'm rambling great job Dani-" I was cut off by Thalia.

"Woah, woah, woah! Time out. What is this about a book?" She questioned.

"Well I hate to break it to you Thalia but it seems that you,everything, and everyone here is all fake." I explained cautiously.

Thalia stared at me with a blank face. "I'm clearly real. Is this girl okay?" A scowl appeared on my face.

"You're fake. I'm like, 99.9% sure this is a dream." I huffed. Thalia and Percy laughed before Thalia pinched my arm. "Oww! That was so not badass!"

I turned on my heel, and shadow mist traveled out of the shed. Maybe I won't mention the series anymore.

I leaned against a tree watching all the kids spar. Besides the pinching, it was cool here. It kinda felt like the home I never had. My eyes focused on one fight in particular. It was between one cute black dude with dark brown eyes, and other cute guy with brown hair and green eyes.

Was everyone at this camp hot?

I suspected as much. I sighed, I really missed Danny. He was technically my 'cousin' but he was more of a brother.

My real father was probably off somewhere with my twin sister. Yeah, I kind of have a twin. Her name is Yasmin, and she looks exactly like me.

Except I don't really know if she is as in love with Andy Biersack as I am.

I quickly snapped my head up, the shadows were pulling at something. Oh, it was Nico.

"Hey Death Breath. Whatcha need?" I asked, not really paying attention. He had a faint look of shock on his face before talking. "Oh um I wanted to say thanks for you know, earlier." He said shyly.

I shrugged, hugged him, and grinned. "It's No prob, like I said to Chiron before, Solangelo is my OTP." I responded before disappearing in a fine black mist.

It took him a second to process my words. "Why you little troll!" He screeched, earning a few stares.

I laughed, and shadow mist traveled to my cabin. Ahh, home sweet home.

Nico POV

I met up with Percy and Thalia, after talking with Danielle- Call me Dani Neeks. The shadows around me chanted. "My name is not Neeks." I hissed angrily.

It was really creepy how she could do that. I was snapped out off my thoughts by Thalia. "NICO! UNDERWORLD TO NICO!" She yelled in my face.

I wasn't expecting that, so naturally I screamed and fell backwards. They started cracking up, oh yes what great cousins I have. I stood up, and went to go find Dani again. We needed to talk about the books, and who wrote them.

When I came to her room in the Big House (she didn't have a cabin yet), I was surprised to see her sleeping in front of a pile of books that certainly weren't there before today. I shook her awake, and all she did was sigh and roll over. "Wake up Dani!" I yelled in her ear, she jumped and all of a sudden I can't see anything. I yelped, and fell forward onto the floor.

"Nico?" I heard a voice whisper.

"Yes?" I hissed, it was still unnerving at how all I could see was blackness.

"Sorry, for that." She apologized. I was taken aback by her apology, because nobody actually did that before. I could suddenly see again, thank the gods.

I sat on the floor next to Dani. "So about these books." I started. "Who wrote them?"

"Rick Riordan wrote them you dumb." She mumbled sleepily, rubbing her eyes.

I'm not dumb. There's no noun that's a dumb.

"You think he's a demigod?" I asked. Dani shrugged.

"Probably Neeks. But I mean what if he was just Jason in disguise or something. You never know." Dani jokes dryly. "But can Jason even write books?"

"Nope I've read his drafts. They suck." She snickered, and I blushed.

"Aw little Neekster is blushing!" She teased.

"Don't call me Neekster." I growled, but she waved me off. Dani obviously didn't care about anything.

"Anything else you wanna ask?" Dani yawned, burying her face in her arms.
She looked kind of, fragile.

"No." I mumbled. "You just uh, get some sleep..." I think Dani could sense my uncomfortable state because she started giggling like a hyena.

"You're adorable Nico. Go make out with Will or somethin." Dani laughed climbing into the bed right next to her. "That floor is so hard."

I felt my cheeks heat up slightly. Go make out with Will or something.

Maybe I will.
