Thomas's PoV
In the morning, I get ready for school. I see school as a waste of time, but dad insists I go. Because mum wanted me to go. I think of her and Trina every morning. It's barely a week since they were killed but we vampires get over these things quickly. I head to dads office to say goodbye. He looks up as I enter."Ah good, Thomas! Go to the princess's apartment and take herself and the others to school please". I groan but he gives me a look that says "no arguments". Ugh. I head downstairs to where James's jeep is waiting for me. James, Diane and Nick are already inside. James and I go to school because we're forced. Nick and Diane go because they have nothing better to do.
"We gotta stop off at Rothwell, to collect the princess" I say regretfully. The others don't seem to mind though. It takes five minutes to get to Rothwell Heights.
Everything around here is owned by the Rothwell's. Including the school: Rothwell Academy of Excellence. The name's a lie by the way. It's a dump.
I get out of the jeep and am followed by the other three. I roll my eyes. As we head up to 208/01 I hear James loudly telling Nick and Diane about how hot the princess and her friends were. I tell him to shut up and knock on the door.
It's answered by a small blonde girl who is about 17. She smiles politely and let's us in. She's wearing the maroon blazer and white shirt that's the Rothwell Uniform. She's wearing the navy skirt really short and I have to poke James to get him to stop staring at her. She shows us into the kitchen where Ayra, the guy and girl who were with her yesterday and Markson sit.
Ayra stand up and smiles at Nick, who walks forwards and hugs her. They've know each other for years. I don't know why but it annoys me. She then introduces her brother, Asp, her cousin, Laoise and the blonde girl, Lucie. We leave the apartment and get into the jeep.
We drive to the school in silence. I show them to the office where the secretary gives them their timetables and lockers. The bell goes but before we go our separate ways, Diane suggests that they hang out with us at lunch. I nearly hit her.
Ayra and Lucie are in James and my homeroom so they follow us to first class which is maths. They sit at the back, behind me and James. The whole time, James keeps whispering to me about Lucie. I'm really relieved when the bell goes and I can leave James and go to Art. Unfortunately, Ayra is in my class.
I introduce her to the teacher as Ayra Markson (the cover name they had decided on) and Ms Kelly makes her sit beside me. I ignore my friend Colin whisper "Nice one mate" to me and I ignore them throwing paintbrushes at my head. Instead I get on with my work.
In this class we had to draw a portrait of the youngest member of our family, from memory. For me, that meant drawing Trina. My six year old sister who was burned alive by slayers. My hatred for them clouds my mind and I can't concentrate.
I look over at Ayra's drawing. Three baby girls look out at me. They're so realistic that for a minute I wonder where the hell babies appeared from. Ms Kelly is ecstatic. She begs Ayra to draw something for the art show next month. Ayra smiles and says she'd love to. It pisses me off how humble she is.
At break, Diane invites them to sit at our table. This annoys me but I can't say anything. James is talking to Lucie about Tech Graph. Apparently they had that class together. It's weird cause James never usually cares about girls' interests. He's more of a "sleep with her and never call back" kinda guy. It's weird to see him actually paying attention to a girl for once.
I look over at Ayra. She's biting her lip and staring down at her phone. She looks worried. "What's up Ay?" Asp asks. She shakes her head and mutters "nothing. I'm fine". I can tell she isn't though. I look over her shoulder at the phone. "Who's Jax?" I ask, trying to keep a hint of jealousy out of my voice.
"My boyfriend. I'm just worried cause he hasn't been in touch lately". I see Laoise and Lucie give each other a guilty look and decide to ask them later. Then Diane speaks up. "You should come to Bat Bites! It's the local vampire club. It's in the basement below the Bat Bites fashion studio. We go there all the time. I do part time modelling there".
I'm about to protest but then James and Nick agree. Great. I have to spend more time with Little Miss Dracula and her friends. I don't why I dislike her, but I do. I don't trust her. But I guess I'll just have to put up with her.
18:00, 208/01 Rothwell Heights.
Diane insisted we arrive an hour early cause she wanted to help the girls with their outfits. They're all crowded in Ayra's room while James, Nick, Markson and I sit at the table, waiting. They take ages. Finally after what seems like hours they emerge. Ayra is wearing a tight red dress and Laoise is wearing the same in black. Diane's sparkly pink gown is beautiful but Lucie is the real showstopper. She is has her blonde hair down and just a little makeup. She's wearing a short, tight purple dress. It's backless and hugs her in all the right places so that she looks really hot. I see James's eyes light up. He walks up to her and holds out an arm to her. He guides her out to the jeep and let's her into the passenger seat, next to him. He beams every time she says his name and listens to her talking.
If I'm not very much mistaken, James is falling in love.
