Two unforgivable curses. It's enough to make your skin crawl. And on children nonetheless.

Azkaban will give that monster - that brute - everything she deserves.

Spring turns to summer, bringing the stiflingly sticky heat along. Hogwarts students slump from lesson to lesson, finding themselves looking forward to Potions in the cool stone dungeons. Lily welcomes the icy relief, and Professor Slughorn takes her enthusiasm as the okay to give her extra work.

Flooded with assignments and essays, Lily spends almost every night in the Library or common room with her head buried in a textbook, murmuring to her enchanted quill. Albus and James notice her change in demeanour, and decide it's time for a change. Time to put in action the plan they've been concocting.

"Lils, can I speak with you out here for a sec?" Albus asks, after knocking softly on the door. Lily tenses, stretching her small body and rolling her neck to release the cramp that has formed. She look sat the clock on her bedside table: 1:15AM it reads. What could they want at this time in the morning?

She slides her wand up her pyjama sleeve and slowly rises from her chair, leaving the dorm. Lily steals one last glance at her unfinished essay before the door clicks shut behind her.

Albus is stood in front of her.

"Wassup Al? If you haven't gathered I'm really busy!" She hisses, tapping her foot on the wooden floor. He shushes her and presses a finger to his own lips, beckoning her to follow. The pair head downstairs to the gryffindor common room, Lily grumbling curses at her older brother.

When they enter the room, the first thing she sees is - unsurprisingly - James stood by the fireplace. Someone else that Lily can't identify is crouched next to him, back towards her.

"Hello Lily, bet you're wondering why we brought you down here then?" James asks, smirking.

"No, just wondering what possessed me to possibly answer Albus in the first place." She retorts, scoffing. "Now get on with it, I have an unfinished piece of work upstairs that is due in," she checks her watch, "less than 8 hours."

"Right, well basically during Easter I was going through Dad's old boxes of stuff and I found this really cool map-"

"Let me tell the story James, you're going to take too long." The figure turns, revealing the fact that mystery man is none other than Scorpius Malfoy.

Lily groans even more.

"So he found this map called the Marauders Map, made by your grandfather, Uncle Sirius, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew when they were at Hogwarts. For the past month he has been using it to trick people - including me - when we aren't suspecting it." Scorpius finishes.

"And what does this have to do with me?" Lily asks impatiently.

"We want to make a 21st Century Marauders, Lil! How awesome is that?" Albus beams.

"Okay, cool, but I'm still missing the point. One of you better bloody get to it or I'll petrify you and get Aunt Minnie." She snaps, brandishing her wand.

"Threatening me again are we Pott-"

"Shut it, Scor. She's serious (sirius). Lily will do it. We want you to be a Marauder with us; We know you have Hermione's time turner and Dad's invisibility cloak, plus you're ruthless and sneaky." James adds, clasping his hands together in silent prayer.

"I don't know.." She sighs, twirling her wand around her fingers.

"Told you this was a bloody waste of my time, James." Scorpius snaps. Lily catches her wand in her hand, and smirks.

"That time of the month, Malfoy?" Lily teases. It takes a moment to catch onto the joke, but Scorpius snarls and pulls out his wand from his Slytherin robes.

"I am not a werewolf. Expecto Patronus!" He casts, wand pointed to the ceiling. It takes a moment for the cloudy mist to turn into silken clouds, the animal soon spilling out from the end of his wand.

A wolf.

Lily's heart catches in her throat, smirk sliding off her face. Shakily, she raises her own wand to the ceiling and casts her own patronus, watching as the two wolves chase and tumble through the air. Tears fill in her eyes.

Like calls to like.

"Hey, Lily, didn't dad used to say something about people with the same patronuses, that they were -"

Stopitstopitstopitstopit.

"-soulmates?" Albus finishes.

Lily drops her wand, the stick of wood clattering onto the ground, lets out a small cry and hurries from the room. Down the stone stairs, out of the gryffindor tower and away from Malfoy.
