Chapter Eleven: Fate of the Force

Darth Rabbidus felt it in the Force. It wasn't what he had thought it would be. Jedi everywhere were being devoured by the Dark Side tsunami they had unleashed. Instead of filling with power like he thought he would, he felt more empty, like there was a gap in the Force. He felt like there was a whole in him. He looked at all of the dead Jedi lying on the ground. The Hssiss were unaffected by it, only feeling one side of the force rather than both. Even Kaine seemed rather fine, he grinned at the death around him.

The light began to sink back into the dimming crystal as its power began to fade. The ritual was done, and it was hungry again. Rabbidus looked upon Kylar with the light of his blades. His old friend lay on the ground, motionless. Remses remembered the times when they were young, when they would train and study together. The relationship he had had with Kylar was the closest thing to a bond with a brother he had ever known. He tried to fight his feelings of regret and sorrow, but couldn't fully do it.

A groan caught his attention. He looked over and was surprised to see two Jedi struggling to their feet. The Togruta master and Twi'lek padawan coughed and wheezed. The master was one thing, but Rabbidus was amazed to see that a mere padawan had survived the Purge.

"What have... you done?" The Togruta moaned, barely rising to her knees.

The Dark Side brute, Kaine, walked over to her and raised his weapon. "We made a stronger galaxy." Remses wasn't sure if what Kaine had said was true as he watched the last Jedi master be cut down.

"No..." Pyrrha tried to yell, but couldn't summon the energy to do it.

Kaine approached her next and tsked. "You're strong to have survived the Purge, little one. You would have made a good Sith." He raised his greatsaber for the finisher and brought it down. It stopped mere inches from its target. Darth Kaine tried to push down, but he couldn't do it.

"Don't touch my padawan." A strained voice said.

Darth Rabbidus looked down to see Kylar reaching out and holding the Sith's weapon up with the Force, bracing himself up with his other hand.

"Pyrrha, move!" Kylar ordered, still in a daze.

The young Jedi rolled away as Kylar released his hold on the weapon and it carved into the ground. Kylar then rolled over and got up to one knee, holding his silver lightsaber in his hand. His second one had been damaged somehow and lay useless on the ground. He looked Wallace in the eyes, who had been motionless up until now where he got into combat stance with both lightsabers ready to strike. Kylar summoned all of his power to get to his feet and stand tall, despite the whole inside him that he now felt through the Force.

"Wallace, I made a promise to Master Taruk that I would bring you back to the light-"

"You're wasting your time, Jedi!" Darth Kaine yelled. "There is no light anymore!" Remses faltered for a second, doubting everything he thought he knew as he continued to feel that emptiness in the Force as Jedi perished everywhere.

Kylar looked at Wallace. "I don't believe that."

"Rabbidus, let's kill the Jedi!" Darth Kaine commanded as he lunged at Pyrrha, who had just gotten her sabers back.

darth Rabbidus shook himself from his daze and lunged at Kylar. They clashed blades over and over, this time Kylar didn't hold back, knowing the only way to get through to his friend was to fight power with power. He spun and whirled around with his single silver blade and threw a few kicks in there. He and Darth Rabbidus were equals in this fight.
