I was doodling on the back on my biology book when suddenly someone took a sit beside me. I turned my head to see who it was. And... turned out it was Austin Kim. I gave a light smile and took my bag to put it on the other side so he could have a wider space on the table. Biology lab.
Unlike me and Sandy who were born and grow up here, Austin was moving here when we were in junior high. And though we went to the same junior high, i never really know him. I think he's taller than what he looked like before.
"Hi..." I was trying to be a good friend here.
He smiled. He looked kinda cute when he smiled, though. "Hi."
And that was it. I was really good about saying hi, but i was bad for the rest.
So we just sit there until Mr. Park came.

"Austin Kim sit with me on the Biology lab." It's not important. But that's what bestfriend for i guess, you could tell them even the most unimportant information in this world.
I could see Sandy was surprised. "Wow, really? How is he?"
"He's good. We didnt really talk."
"Oh God, i cant help my self to envy that girl everytime i saw her. How can a guy like Luke Robinson always ends up with a hot girl like Brenda Wood?"
I turned my head to see what was Sandy talking about and then I saw Luke Robinson walked in to the cafetaria holding Brenda's hand. I could hear the romantic music start to ring on my head.
"Yeah, the answer of your question might be more useful for our life compare to all the things that Mr. Park taught us earlier on the lab." I took a bite on my sandwich.
"But i think it's still not easy for her after what happen. She's not on the cheerleader team anymore, she basicly has no friend now."
Sandy nodded. "Yeah, no friends. But she got Luke Robinson, fair enough."

My mom asked me to go to her shop after school to delivery some cakes for her customer. My mom run a bakery, it was not really big but she got enough fans. This bakery was my idea, actually.
My dad died in a car accident few days before my mom knew she was pregnant. It was really hard for us. We were very close to Dad. He was the mood maker at home, he gave you the best jokes. So when he died, we felt like we lose our reason to laugh and smile. Thanks God i had Sandy at the time, she didnt do anything, she's just always be there with me, talking about anything eventhough i barely gave any respon. But Mom, she lose everything. She resigned, and then she stayed at her bedroom for weeks. I was really worried about her, and about my little brother.
Then one day, i asked her to make a breakfast. My mom probably felt guilty about me, so she went to the kitchen and started making pancakes. Then the idea just came out. I told her that she made the best cake in town, it might be a good idea if she start baking again since she loved baking so much.
I never knew that she gave some times to think about it. But yeah... i was glad she did.
So we started discussing about the idea of the bakery. Mom said i have a better eyes about decoration so she asked me to that job. But we took a few months break after she was giving birth to my brother. We started again when Kevin was arround 6 months.
"Mom... I'm here."
My mom came out the kitchen as soon as she heard my voice. "Oh, thanks God you're here. I want you to drop this cake, here is the address."
"Where is Jim?"
"He's not feeling well. I think he got flu so i asked him to go home and take a rest."
"Oh... 'kay then."
I checked the address on the paper that my mom gave me earlier once again. Just to make sure that i was going to knock the right door.
"Yess???? Who is it?" A lady's voice sounded.
"Hi, this is Davina from Rosie Bakery. I'm here to..."
"Oh... right! Wait a minute, i'm coming!" An excited voice of a woman sounded.
A moment later a pretty korean woman opened the door.
"Hi. You are new."
I smiled. "Hi, Mrs. Kim. I am Rosie's daughter, actually. Jim is not feeling well, and since my mom doesnt have enough money to hire more employee, so yeah.... here i am." I shrugged.
She laughed. "Rosie once told me she has a pretty daughter, but i never know you are this pretty."
Mrs Kim, we're not giving you any discount for telling me a lie. If i am 'that pretty', i must be on Jeremy Irvin's arm right now.
"Thank you, Mrs. Kim. You're so kind."
"Oh, please just call me Jenny."
Just that moment, someone showed up from the house. "Mom, i'll go now. Can you..." He stopped talking when he saw me.
"Hanbin ahh... cant you just wait for your dad to take you there?" Jenny looked worry, but suddenly realized that i was still there. "Ah... right. This is Davina, Rosie's daughter."
Turned out, that boy was Austin Kim.
"Yeah, i know. We go to the same school." He said.
Jenny was a little bit surprise, which is weird, because we live in a small town and we only have one high school arround, the other was taking at least two hours to go. So, yeah, she didnt really need to be that surprised to be honest.
"Really? So, you guys are friends?"
"Yes." I said.
"No." He said too, at the same time.
"Kim hanbin!!!"
"Mom, just because we go to the same school, it doesnt mean we are friend. This is 2016, people dont just call someone a friend anymore. I'll go now."
"Wait..."
Jenny looked at me with a puppy eyes. "Davina, honey... are you coming here with your car?"
"Mom!" Austin stared on his mother.
"Hanbin... I mean, Austin is going to take his car from service station, do you mind to give a lift, please?"
"MOM!!!" Austin looked like he's gonna die.
"Sure! Lets go with my car, i'll take you there."
"No, i can handle it."
"No, really. I'll go that way anyway."
"Thank you so much, Davina." Jenny's smile made me feel like i just safe the earth from global warming.
"Actually, you can just call me Dee, Mrs. Kim."
"Sure, Dee. And you should call me Jenny."
And that's how this story started. My peaceful life will soon getting more complicated.
