"Get a move on Paige!" Her mum shouted from the garden. "We're going to be late!"
"Well, that way we'll miss the boat and won't have to move in with repulsive Andrew!" Paige shouted back from her bedroom.
Both of them were moving to island 394.
Since the massive earthquake that turned all the countries into islands, Paige's ancesters had been living on island 122 for like ever, but not them, her mum had to go and marry some stupid mayor and they had to move, leave everything behind and start a new life.
"Hey" Her mum said, standing by the door. "Come on, it will be nice, you'll make lots of friends over there"
"Yeah, fine. But Andrew is still going to be there with us." She moaned.
"Look hun, whether you like it or not, you have to accept that he's my husband now. We can't live stuck in the past remembering your father as if he were here forever. Just do it for me, please." Her mum said, holding her hands and looking at her in the eyes.
"Fine, I'll try to be nice." Paige answered.
"That's my girl." Her mum said smiling.
They each grabbed a box and went down to put them in the car. Paige got into the car and looked around, something was missing...
Her mum started the engine and just about when they were going to leave, Paige shouted "TABBY!"
Oh my gosh! She had nearly forgotten one of her best friends! She ran back to the house and found her brown tabby cat lying peacefully on the porch, enjoing the last rays of sun that the afternoon could offer her.
"Come here you lazy excuse of a cat" Paige said smiling and picking up the cat. "We're moving to a new place you know... Andrew's house"
Tabby looked at Paige and dug her claws in the girl's arm a bit harder than normal.
"Yes, I know. I don't like the idea either. But a new house means new curtains you can shred..." Paige said with an evil grin.
Tabby purred in her arms.
"Paige! Come on!" Her mum shouted.
"Coming!" She answered running towards the car.
They drove quickly to the pier and got into the Ferry in the nick of time. Yes, since the earthquake, boats were the main way of transport.
"How long will it take to get there?" Paige asked, feeling a bit queasy.
"An hour and a half more or less... Are you getting seasick?" Her mum asked her.
"Yeah, a bit..." Paige answered.
Her mum gave her some pills and she felt a bit better, but just a little bit.
Once they arrived, Andrew met them at the pier. He had blond hair and green eyes. He had a German background, so he had huge muscles and looked very strong.
"Hello darling!" Andrew said smiling at Paige's mum and kissing her on the cheek. He stared at her daughter. "Paige..." He said, quite annoyed. "Nice to see you again" He added, but his voice was still in a monotone mode.
"Don't worry, the feeling isn't mutual" Paige answered.
They all got into the car and drove to the huge house where they would be living. The boxes with all their clothes and stuff were already there.
"All your things arrived this morning." Andrew informed them.
"Wow, that was fast!" Paige's mum said. "Look at this honey! Isn't it great? You're going to have loads of fun here! And on Monday you're starting school! Aren't you excited?" She nearly shouted.
