Well, law was finally finished, which meant for today, Tayghen and I had finished for the day and could go home, but obviously due to the fact that we are such enthusiastic teenage school kids, we stayed for another 4 and a half hours until the end of a normal school day. Actually, it's because we were waiting for Palmer, Paxton and Nara to finish so we could get a lift home, since we are the typical lazy teenage school kids.
The 6th form room was pretty empty, so Tayghen and I took the opportunity to play some music from the CD player in the corner of the room. As I flicked through the stack of CD's, Tayghen pressed play and the speakers started blasting out the music to Tom Odell's Another Love. I glanced over at Tayghen who gave me a knowing look, and as if on cue, we both started jumping around. I was whipping my hair back and forth whilst Tayghen was jumping over the tables. It was so loud that we would have to scream in each other's ears to hear each other. The only room connected to the common room that could hear the music is Mr Garbett's office, but he was a music teacher so he was fine with it. In fact, he kind of liked it. Other than that it was the reception, but the 6th form has been around for a while and it holds a reputation for blasting music out throughout the school day, so in the summer they knocked down the old building and rebuild it making it soundproof, whilst placing Mr Garbett's office slightly within the common room so he could still enjoy the wonders of teenage life once more. Well that and the fact that he was head of 6th form, so needed to have an office close to 'keep us in order'.
Tayghen and I kept bouncing around and singing along as another 3 songs passed. The song was rudely interrupted by someone pressing pause. And so of course, as a reflex, I jumped over a table and turned it on again, which was greeted by it being paused again.
"What the hell?" I yelled, more loudly than I meant to as I was still getting my hearing sense back to normal after the loud banging from the music.
"Some people would like to have peace in the common room! This is a place for all of us! Not just you two! Now, PIPE THE FUCK DOWN!" answered Riley, who returned to her seat besides Reagan, who looked ashamed and disappointed in his girlfriend. Tayghen and I turned away from them and ran for the double door exit onto the field at the back of the school, where we would collapse in laughter.
"Did...did you see the vain making its appearance again?" Tayghen stuttered.
"Seriously Tay, I was looking more at Reagan's face! He looked so pissed off!" I laughed in response.
"Pipe the fuck down. What does that even mean?"
We rolled around on the grass as we caught our breathes. In the end, Tayghen was lying on his back with his arms out stretched beside him. I scooted over and leant on my side, laying my head on his bicep, to which he responded by wrapping his arm around me.
We could only have been lying there for a few minutes but I felt like I was about to fall asleep. That was until, water started dripping on us. I opened my eyes to see Palmer leaning over me. The close proximity cause me to jump and we bashed our heads together. Palmer put out his hand for me but I refused it and stood up rubbing my forehead, angry that he caused this. Palmer however, who was also rubbing his head, looked pretty pleased with himself, which just angered me more. I then realised that the water had come from Paxton and his water bottle that he was deliberately dripping over me. I laughed at Paxton, purely because of the majorly guilty face that had forced itself upon him. But Palmer looked far too please for my liking. Tayghen put his arm out for me to help him up, and so I grabbed his hand, but was pulled down on top of him. Palmer 'accidently' slipped and fell on top of me.
"DOG PILE!!!!!" Paxton screamed as he belly flopped on top of Palmer.
There was a sudden huge weight added after Paxton so I turned my head to see a bunch of year 7's race towards us from one of the school doors. I soon realised they were all piling on top of us. It hurt to laugh but at the same time, it was pretty hard not to.
"STOP LAUGHING" Tayghen demanded "it's hurting me!"
"Well that's your own fault, isn't it! You pulled me onto you!!" I yelled back.
The pile continued to gain people.
"Right, come on guys. I'm sure you don't want to be sharing your sweat with others." Came a male voice that I couldn't see the owner of. The year 7's laugh at his statement. "You do realise that that means people are just rubbing their sweat onto you too right?" Now they all groaned in realisation and one by one began peeling themselves off of the towering pile.
Eventually it was my turn. I rolled off Tayghen, onto my back and both Tayghen and Paxton helped pull me up. I turned to find the person who had helped us, but all I saw was the 3 boys keeled over clutching their rib cages, and an army of small year 7's making their way back inside. I knew it wasn't a year 7, as the voice was too deep, but there is no way the person could have gotten back inside that quickly without me seeing them run.
"Who was that?" I asked the guys.
Palmer just looked at my confused expression concerned. I looked back, giving him a reassuring smile. We began to walk back when we saw Nara walking through the door and toward us.
"Guy's, what's going on? Why are you outside?" We said nothing as we approached her. "Oh never mind, just hurry up, we have to get home."
We all hurried over to Nara, and made our way to the car. We dropped Palmer off first, then Tayghen, and then made our way to our house.
Once we were finally home, I didn't really want to take the chance of running into my parents just yet after this morning, so I went straight upstairs to my room and began my law homework that we had received today.
"Tea time, Jer." Nara said, gently cracking my door ajar.
I instantly got up and made my way down the stairs and into the dining room where my father was sat at the top of the table and my mother to his right. Nara sat next to my mother, and Paxton opposite, leaving me the chair opposite Nara. The food was already set out on the table and my parents wasted no time in beginning their meal. Usually they would disapprove of anyone eating their food before everyone was seated, so to start eating before I was seated was an obvious hint that they were still not happy about what I had said this morning. Not that I blamed them.
After the awkward dinner, I went back upstairs remembering that I needed to prepare for my audition for the school play.
