At Six o'clock Saturday, as arranged, Mimi met Hatori in front of her dormitory. It was unusually warm for the end of March and still light out as the days were getting longer the closer summer got. She hadn't stopped grinning since Thursday and was beaming as Hatori approached from the courtyard that was lined in blossoming cherry trees.
Mimi had to stop herself from drooling. Hatori looked like sex on legs in his grey slim fit blended cotton dress shirt with the top two buttons undone and black wool dress trousers.
It had taken her and Erika all day to choose her outfit. After going through their clothes, Erika decided Mimi had to buy something new. It took five hours in Harajuku and Shibuya, the bulk of their time spent in Shibuya 109, before Erika deemed the light blue sundress that hugged Mimi's curves a winner.
The light breeze floated through her sidewinder updo, causing a few stray hairs to tickle her neck. She nervously played with the leather cuff bracelet she wore to hide the scratches.
As he walked up to her, he offered her his arm. "My boss found out I had a date this weekend and arranged everything," Hatori fibbed in order not to break his agreement with Ritsuko.
Mimi hadn't had much experience in the world of employment. She was never allowed to work when she lived with her parents. They demanded that she concentrate on her education. On top of that, her grandfather thought any job other than one in medicine was beneath any of his grandchildren and not worth wasting their time or effort on. Her relationship with her employers at the language school was relaxed and friendly. However, other than adjusting her schedule whenever she needed, that was as generous as it got.
"Wow. You must have one of the nicest bosses in the world," she replied shocked.
Hatori smiled and shook his head a little. "I'm lucky, he's my best friend. I tried to stop him, but in the end it was useless. Besides, I've heard the restaurant we're going to is really nice."
Mimi thought about what it would be like to work for Ritsu and shuddered. Even though they were best friends, Ritsu could be very demanding and childish at times and she couldn't imagine having to put up with that.

The car pulled up in front of a sky rise building in Onarimon and the driver opened the door to let them out. Taking Mimi's hand, Hatori led her into the building. They passed the elevators and stopped in front of a themed restaurant that was tucked off to the right. The hostess was dressed as a ninja and bowed to them as soon as she saw them.
Mimi looked at Hatori, I would've never in a million years pegged him as the type to ever set foot in a themed restaurant. He seems like the conservative type that wouldn't be caught dead in an establishment like this. She'd been to her fair share of themed restaurants with her girlfriends. However, she had never thought of them as somewhere you would take someone on a first date.
Hatori's lips curled up at the side as he stifled his grin. Giving her a dazzling smile, he chuckled. "Come on, the restaurant is this way. As if I'd take you to a themed restaurant on our first date. Your expression was priceless though."
She blushed from head to toe when Hatori pointed out that they were on a date. She knew it was a date, but she still couldn't believe that someone as stunningly gorgeous as Hatori had asked her out.
Then she felt like she had to defend herself; she didn't want Hatori to think she was stuffy or stuck up."You know, I've been to themed restaurants before. I don't really think they would make for first date material, but I'd still be game. Besides, I haven't been to a ninja one before."
"Duly noted. So, let me guess. You've probably gone to the vampire or Lolita themed ones," he replied, giving her a wink.
She opened her mouth to protest but decided not to argue because what he said was true. Although, she never picked the themes herself. Those were the ones that her friends always dragged her to. On top of that, they would even dress up according to the theme of the restaurants.
