CHELSEA

"I swear, I'm gonna shoot myself"

Faye let out a slight laugh before sighing and switching the hand she was leaning her head on.

"Why are you laughing? I'm serious. Shoot me, please, I'm begging you."

"Funny."

"I just don't want to go. Everyone there creeps me out so much and it's always so busy and just a sketchy place. Just go without me."

She swirled her drink around, the sound of ice hitting the edge of the glass breaking through the silence.

"Do you think the music is gonna make you turn or something?"

"No. That was one time. It doesn't happen anymore."

I was half telling the truth, half not. Although it had only happened once and I had learned to control myself more, I wasn't sure if I'd gotten used to loud music with my heightened hearing just yet.

Faye squinted her eyes at me.

"Don't look at me like that. You never believe me about anything and it's getting old. Just trust me when I say things instead of challenging every thing." I rambled out, getting up and heading towards the stairs.

"I wouldn't have to doubt you if you actually did things right!" She called out from behind me.

Curses ran through my head as I walked up, step by step until I reached my room.

I took the time to calm myself down before collapsing face down on my bed.

Faye had always been there for me; she was my sister. But after she turned me it was like most of her sibling instincts had been thrown out of the window. Moments when we got on and didn't talk about the problems of our world were rare and that wasn't the way I wanted it. Deep down, I was sure she didn't want it either.

"I'm leaving in half an hour wether you're ready or not so if you're going to suck it up and stop running from your problems I suggest you get the hell up." Faye spoke from the other side of the door.

I heard her footsteps leading away and I closed my eyes, focusing on my heartbeat and trying to make a decision.

Faye always had a method of changing  my opinions and effecting my train of thought so I swung my legs over the side of the bed and sauntered to my wardrobe.

-

The thumping music was audible from streets away and not just because I had the gift of superior hearing. Pandemonium was known to be a place where fun was at no end so what would I expect.

Once inside, the sound was even louder and I could feel the struggle already coming on. I tried to steady my breathing and clutched my hands into fists as we trawled through the crowds.

"Why couldn't we pick it up from somewhere else?" I asked, walking close behind Faye in order not to get lost in the sea of people.

"He's the only guy in miles who gives it out. I've told you this before, Chelsea, he has all sorts of valuable materials. Keep up."

"Miles? We could run that distance with no problem - I don't see why we have to be here." I nearly screamed over the music that continued to aid my urge to turn.

"Look, if you can't handle the music just go. You don't have to be here. I can get the mountain ash myself."

Faye started to tread faster, clearly angry at my nagging. I picked up my speed, too. I knew that it was important to get it; we needed protection for those worst case scenarios which seemed to happen a lot.

We reached who we were looking for and Faye tapped his shoulder, causing him to turn around.

"Magnus. Looking eccentric as always." She simpered.

"Faye." He smirked, "Hope you haven't been causing any trouble."

"Me? Never." She laughed, running her hands through her hair, turning on that charm she always seemed to use when she was in need of something.

"Chelsea, hello," he greeted and looked over Faye's shoulder at me, making me nod my head awkwardly as a way to say hi, "Lovely to see you. Anyway, here it is."

Magnus pulled out a glistening tube of the all too powerful black powder from a pocket in his metallic purple coat.

Faye, grabbed it and held onto it tightly almost in fear of dropping it.

"What would I do without my favourite warlock, huh?" Faye raised one eyebrow at Magnus.

"Oh, no need for the flattery. My pleasure."

The flirting between them always confused me since it was like second nature to them but it seemed so real at times.

"Well, we must be on our way. Until next time." Faye rubbed his arm and looked directly into his eyes before turning the other way and guiding me through the crowd again.

I let my eyes wander around, trying to distract myself from the noise that was starting to make my heart rate increase again.

People were enjoying themselves so much and I couldn't even remember the last time I had genuine fun. After turning, nothing really entertained me that much.

I scanned people up and down and came across somebody wearing black boots and as my eyes travelled up I saw his black trousers, black jacket and shirt and then his neck which was marked on one side. A shadowhunter. Then I reached his face and his eyes. He stare directly back. Our eye contact continued as we passed each other by. He glared down at me since I was shorter than him and I felt the need to stare back down at the ground due to the intimidation like I usually do. But I didn't.
