"PLEASE?" I begged my mother, who decided that this would be the one time she says no. Usually she's so carefree with what I do. Sure, she cares about me and "my safety". But most of the time she lets me do my own thing. I guess I hadn't really expected her to agree with our little excursion, considering that the trip included my best friend and I going about 1000 miles away from home.

"I'm sorry, Rachel, but I need to put my foot down. I dont feel comfortable at all with you being so far away for an entire week." she replied.

"But, Mom, Im 17 dont you think Im responsible enough? Id call you everyday when I wake up and go to sleep and we'd drive there anyways. So, its not like we'd be flying there." I argued. My mother was desperately afraid of planes. She just watches so many disaster shows, she doesnt trust them at all, knowing evrything that could happen on one. So, I knew if I added that bit in there we'd be a shoo-in for the trip.

As she pondered my answer, Trevor broke in , " If it would make you feel any better my brother could come and keep an eye on us." I smirked on the inside. Trevor and I both knew his brother, Bradley, was horrible when it came down to responsibilities. If he did come with us to L.A. , he would most likely spend the days at the beach looking for girls he could hit on. But my mother didn't have to know that.

"I suppose I would feel better if someone was there to supervise. And I guess I trust Bradley enough for this." my mom said, finally. Oh, please I thought. Brad was hardly one to trust, however, his always being polite towards my mother has certainly worked its advantages.

"YES. thankyouthankyouthankyou! eeeeeee" I screamed, jumping up and down. I looked to Trevor with what could only be described as a Chesire Cat smile, which he returned as we hugged excitedly. Holy Crap. I'm going to Los Angeles.

--Several Days Later--

"How much longer?" Trevor whined. It had been a blur these past few days. Packing, getting everything booked in the city, and, of course, getting Brad to come along. It was strange that he had been quiet most of the drive. We left my house after a round of hugs from my mom at around 6 a.m., which made getting Brad inside the car much harder. We drove almost 16 hours before stopping for sleep at a Motel 6, and hitting the road again at 7 a.m. since Brad refused to get up again before that time.

"I dont know," I replied , carefully watching a snoring Brad in the backseat, " maybe another hour?" I had to be honest. Even though the drive here pretty much sucked, the weather here in California was amazing. Perfectly sunny, with cloudless blue skies and 90 degree weather.... Well, it was better than the weather in Oregon, and made for a nice change in scenery.

"I cant wait that long!" groaned Trevor.

"Well, you're gonna have to. And quit whining! we're almost there." I said, laughing.
