Story Four: The Dog

You think to yourself "Does Tohru-san really deal with this every day?" You look back between Yuki and Kyo nervously, he was glaring at Yuki again. "Well? How do you expect to keep this one quiet too?" Yuki sighed and looked down, "She's a new student, as long as she watches her tongue, she will be fine. (Y/n), how about we talk about this more at my home after school? It's....a bit too crowded here to speak in public about this." You suddenly flinch at him speaking to you, you blush because you were thinking about what if there were other hot guys like them. You nod, not knowing where they would take you, and Tohru giggled as she grabbed your hand. "C'mon, (Y/n)! We don't want to be late for class!" As she dragged you away, you looked back to see a guy in a suit come from behind the school gates and wave to Yuki. Yuki looked really surprised and then angry, he and Kyo led the guy in a suit to the principal's office.

After school, you and Tohru were waiting for Yuki and Kyo by the school gates. "Where are the guys?" You ask. "Um.....I don't know actually, Yuki is usually on time." Tohru looked at the school worried. "You don't think Kyo got in a fight with him, do you Tohru? I saw a guy in a black suit come meet with them this morning....he had black hair and looked rather kind." You look back at the gates and then to the school. Tohru looked at you curious. "Hm? Black suit......oh! You must've seen Shigure, he owns the house that me, Yuki, and Kyo live in." You look at her chipper expression as she said it so casually. "Wait, you're living with three guys in one house, and your not even dating one? Oo....does that mean...Shigure is one of the Zodiac?" She just smiled as she saw Yuki and Kyo come out of the school. Tohru waved and she turned towards the gates. "I have to go to work now...the boys can lead you to the house, but...I'll be seeing you tomorrow, Kay?" You flinch and blush a deep red as you thought of being in one room with three handsome men that could turn into animals at her touch, Yuki came up with a kind smile. "Oh....miss Honda, I'm glad you waited with her for us...your not going to get in trouble for being late, are you?" Tohru shook her head. "Nope, I do a lot of work, so they went mind because I make up for it." She turned and started to run down the street. "I'll see you later!" She called back cheerfully with a happy wave. Kyo yelled at her, cupping his hand by his mouth. "Ey! I'll be there to walk you home when you're done! Don't work too hard, ya hear!" He huffed and looked at you, his eyebrow raised. He then turned a bit pink and looked away. You tilt your head and asked curiously, "Are you alright? Is there something wrong?" He flinched abd his blush deepened as he mumbled. "Sorry....about earlier....I was...rude" You smile a little and hesitate a little before touching his shoulder. "No need to be nervous, you're....actually really nice. I can see that." He looked at you surprised, his blush covering his cheeks, he gulped and stepped back so you weren't touching him anymore. "L-let's just go already...." He walked ahead and Yuki walked by you. "Don't mind him....he's not used to people being kind or fitting in with the student crowd." You look up at him curiously "Y...Yuki-chan? Is that alright for me to call you that?" Yuki's face quickly blushed deeply and there was a poof as he transformed. You catch the falling white rat before he hits the ground with a bright pink blush over his nose. "Yuki! Oh gosh, what'd I do this time?" You panic and grab his bag and clothes as he puts up a paw and hops out of your hand. "No no, you....you didn't do anything...just..call me Yuki, we're friends...it just...startled me that...ahem..you looked so cute as you asked" He walked in front of you as you carried his stuff, with a deep blush, his face was still a bit pink also from what he admitted. Adding the way, he had turned back to normal and led you the rest of the way to a humble house in the middle of the forest. He slipped off his shoes and you did the same. Yuki let you inside the house and a guy was sitting in a kimono at a table, his black hair a bit messy and a tea cup in his hand as he wrote in a journal. "This is Shigure...he's my cousin." Yuki introduced the man and he stood to hold out his hand to you, you shake his hand as he smiled. "Shigure....meet (y/n) she...ahem, ran into me and found out...she's rather clumsy" Yuki shifted his weight as he spoke, Shigure's smile fell as he looked to Yuki. "Yuki....you need to be more careful. Now there's two girls that know the Sohma family secret." His voice was gentle, but firm as he spoke to Yuki. His smile returned as he faced you. "Since you already know Yuki as the Rat of the Zodiac, I guess I can tell you-" Kyo ran down the steps angrily and bumped into you, knocking you clumsily into Shigure. Kyo's momentum caused his arms to wrap around you, making both himself and Shigure transform. As the smoke cleared, you notice a black dog growling at Kyo...who was now in cat form. "Kyo! What are you doing running around the house like that!" You realize the dog was actually Shigure, and you cover your mouth. "Oh god! I'm...I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to." Kyo flinched as Shigure yelled at him. "Hey! It's not you're fault, (y/n)....but don't tell at me! Yuki owes me a fight and I am getting that fight!" Yuki frowned as he came into the room. "Oh....nice going Kyo. So sorry about that, miss (y/n). Now...let's talk about" he motioned to Shigure and Kyo "this....the Sohma family has thirteen members that are cursed to be the twelve Zodiac animals plus the cat. There is also someone who is chosen as the head of the family because of birthright." You nod and look to Kyo, "but....why does Kyo hate you and the rest of your family?" Kyo's tail frizzled in anger. "Because! The cat is always left out! The cat is forbidden to be considered family!! The cat-..." He quickly wiped his eyes with a paw "the cat is hated and not part of the family.....if I finally defeat Yuki, the Rat will no longer be the best and I will be included in the family of Sohma!" He ran off, tears in his eyes that you only saw, he retreated to who knows where. You sat down next to Shigure and pet his head. "I....I feel really bad about asking now." Shigure let his tail wag but he moved away to sit on his kimono, he sighed. "Well, the cat is the worst cursed member of all....they are...pushed into isolation and...being the cat is like exile." There was a poof and he quickly covered himself with his pants, he left his shirt off to continue talking, making you blush deeply, you could barely keep your gaze off of his chest as he spoke. "When a member of the Zodiac is embraced by the opposite sex, like when you hug Yuki or I, it makes us change into our animal forms. There is one person for each animal, that's including the cat. Me, I'm the dog. Yuki is the Rat, and Kyo is the Cat." You nod. "Will...well I be able to meet any other Zodiacs?" Shigure looked surprised. "You mean....you actually want to meet the others? I don't think that's a good idea....is it Yuki?" Yuki looked at you, concerned. "I...I don't know if we can fulfill that request, (y/n). The more members of the family that knows you know about us, the more in danger you are of having your mind wiped by the family doctor, Hatori.
