Jason drove down a highway. I wasn’t sure where he was taking me, but I knew it was somewhere in L.A. I kept asking him where we were going, but he still wouldn’t tell me. He wanted to surprise me. I soon figured it out when he got off the exit and drove up a hill leading up to the Hollywood sign.
I turned to him. “You’re taking me to the Hollywood sign?”
He smiled. “Yeah, I am.”
He drove up the hill and then parked the car. I leaped out and went to the sign. Jason followed close behind me. I have been up here a couple of times with my family but I have never come here at night. The city looked so beautiful from down below with the lights lighting up the entire city.
“I can’t believe you brought me up here, Jason,” I said. “I have never come up here before at night. Thanks so much for bringing me up here.” I wrapped my arms around him.
“No problem. I come up here whenever I can. I come up here just to be alone and I know no one is ever going to find me here.”
He sat down in the grass beside the H. I sat with him, sitting in between his legs and leaned my back up against his chest. He wrapped his arms around my waist. We sat there in silence just enjoying the view. I searched for something to talk about to him. I thought about his dad and decided to ask him why his dad left.
“Jason, why did you dad decide to leave?” I asked him.
Jason was quiet at first and then he replied, “He decided to disown me. He didn’t want to know me anymore after I got myself into drugs. My friend got a hold of marijuana and he encouraged me to smoke it. I didn’t want to but then I thought my parents might notice me if I smoked it. They didn’t at first, but it wasn’t until we got caught smoking it in the street by these cops. We got arrested. My dad then decided to disown me. Just before he walked out he said that he was a shame to have me as his son.”
I turned to face him. My heart cried out to him. I didn’t understand why his family was treating him like this. I touched his face. I wanted to say something to him, but I didn’t know what to say. What was it to say? I could say ‘I’m sorry’ but Jason wouldn’t want to hear that. It’s the same thing how I don’t want people to say that they’re sorry about what happened to Ally.
I cupped my hands around his face and kissed him. As soon as our lips touched, Jason started tugging at my jumper and shirt, stripping them off me. I pulled off his jumper and shirt as well. He unhooked my bra and then flipped me over so he was lying on top of me. We stared at each other and I swear at the moment that I felt like I was actually falling in love with him. He connected his lips with mine again before working his way down my body so he could strip off my pants.
I was about to pull off his pants when we heard a ring tone. Jason swore and then quickly grabbed his phone from his pocket, checking the caller ID and then answered it. “Hi, Mom… Yeah sorry, I’m outside near the pool and I didn’t hear the phone ring… Okay, um see you soon.” He hung up the phone and put it in his pocket. He turned to me, grabbing his clothes. “We have to go, Tori. Jayme’s performance is finished and they’re on their way home.”
We scrambled to our feet and I quickly put my clothes back on and ran to the car. Jason sped off out of the parking lot and down the road. He started speeding as soon as he got to the highway.
“Be careful if you’re going to speed,” I warned Jason.
“I know, I know. I just need to get us home before my family gets home. Trevor will so kill me if he knew that I have taken his car.”
“Do you think we will make it?”
“Yeah, I do.”
“What if we don’t make it?”
