“Tori!” Trevor called out to me as I pushed my way through the crowd in the lounge room. Everyone seemed to have forgotten what happened and went back to the party.
I ignored him and kept running. I opened the front door and I was about to run down the stairs of the veranda when he grabbed me.
“Wait, Tori,” he said. “Don’t leave just yet.”
“Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t leave after what your idiotic brother just did to me?”
“Don’t be so mad at him. He was drunk. He didn’t know what he was doing.”
“So? That doesn’t give him the right for what he just did.”
“I know and yes, Jason can be an asshole even when he isn’t drunk. He doesn’t even care who he hurts. Look, why don’t you come back inside. I will get you a towel. Let’s get out of the cold.”
Trevor put his arm around my shoulder. He slowly pushed me inside but I glued my feet to the ground before he could get me through the door. I really didn’t want to go back in after what his brother did to me. What if he tries to do it again or if he does something else to me?
Lisa came running to the door with Noah Jay behind her. “Tori, are you okay?”
I nodded even though deep down inside I wasn’t alright.
“I’m going to go get her a towel, okay?” Trevor said to my cousin.
Lisa answered okay and then moved aside as Trevor led me inside. He slipped his hand into mine and we pushed our way through the crowd. I looked back at Lisa to see if she was behind me, but she wasn’t. Noah Jay had her pressed up against the wall, giving her tongue. I felt sick just seeing it. But at the same time I wondered what it felt like. I have never been kissed before.
Trevor led me to the bathroom, switching on the light. He grabbed a towel from a rack and handed it to me. I thanked him. He then led me to his room that he shared with his brother. One side was neat and tidy where the other side looked like a bomb had hit it. As we walked into the room I began to freak out, afraid to know why he was taking me to his room.
“Sorry for the mess in here,” Trevor apologised. “My brother can be really untidy. Um, let me try and find something for you to wear so you can get out of your wet clothes.”
I was kind of surprise he was offering me some clothes. I didn’t really expect him to do that.
“It’s okay, Trevor,” I told him. There’s no need to give me any of your clothes.”
He stared at me. “You’re right. I shouldn’t have to give you my clothes. You know what? I will give you one of Jason’s clothes.”
He walked over to a chest of drawers belonging to his brother. Clothes were half hanging out of the drawers.
“Trevor, you brother won’t be happy if you give me his clothes to wear.”
“Trust me on this, Tori, but I don’t think Jason is even going to take any notice. By the end of the night he would be totally out of it. Every time we throw a party, which is the one thing we ever agree on in our lives, and he gets drunk the most than anyone at this party. Besides, what he did to you earlier, I think you can get him back by wearing his clothes.”
I chuckled at what he said. He smiled at me and turned to look through his brother’s draw. I heard a meow and found Jasmine curling around my feet. I picked her up and patted her. I hope she doesn’t mind that my clothes are all wet.
“I’m surprise she is allowing you to pat her or even allowing you to pick her up. Jasmine doesn’t really allow anyone to touch her besides Jason.”
