Finn led us up a dirt path, all the way up to a little community. The houses were all the same size except for a big manner on the very tippy top of a hill. I saw people going about their daily lives but as soon as they saw us they stopped dead in their tracks.
"Finn, why do they look afraid?" I asked him.
"They're afraid of you, and what you'll become."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
He sighed and just said,
"The family will explain it to you."
"The family?"
"You ask too many questions."
"You don't answer enough."
He rolled his eyes and pulled into a garage next to the manor. The manor was a light beige color, with columns and a grand front door. The front of it was overflowing with a beautiful array of flowers. I gasped a little at the sight, and Finn grinned. He hopped out of the jeep, and came around to open my door.
"You don't have to do that. I'm a big girl."
"Ah, but you're a princess so you must be treated like one."
"Since when have you been nice?"
He then took my hand to help me down.
"Since never."
He said, and let go as soon as I put support in him, and I fell on my butt in the dirt.
"You asshole."
He laughed at me, and I stood up, trying to wipe the dirt off my butt. I looked back and saw him staring at it.
"You missed some." He said and then he wiped off the back of my jeans. I turned bright red, and he laughed. Finn then jogged ahead and opened the door to the gigantic house. I followed him into the big foyer. There were a few giant overstuffed pieces of furniture, in the lightly painted room. On one of the chairs sat a woman, well into her fifties. She had auburn hair that was just starting to grey, and she had twinkling green eyes.
"Finn! Welcome back, son. Is this her?"
The woman asked.
"Hey mom, yeah this is Freya, Chris's daughter."
Chris, was that my dads name? Did he live here? Do I have relatives here?
"Ma'am it is nice to meet you, but I am sick of not knowing anything. If you don't explain everything I'm going to rip someone's head off." I said. I smiled to show her j wasn't completely unmannered, but I think I may have come off as psychotic.
Luckily she just laughed and said,
"You certainly have your fathers spirit. Welcome to our little community, my name is Georgina and you've already met my son Finn. I am the leader here, and queen of the clan. My husband is the king, but here the queen rules. I don't know how much Finn has told you, but the whole big master plan can wait until later. I want you to have fun here, you will of course move to this little place."
"What? I'm not moving here."
"But we're you're family."
"I'm related to you?" I suddenly shivered at the thought of Finn touching my butt. Was that like a brotherly thing? Ew.
"No, no, not by blood, we are just the same species. Don't worry you're not related to Finn." She said this with a wink. I blushed but continued talking.
"Of course we're the same species, we're human."
She laughed at me, again.
"Oh honey, we're not human. Not even close ."
"Then what are we?"
"We are part of an old race that has lived on this earth for many years. Most of us can revert to our true form, by because you are half human, you are permanently this way. Finn is half human too, I fell in love with his father when I was very young."
"Woah woah woah wait. So do you know my father?"
"Very well, he was one of my favorite subjects."
"And my mom?"
"I'm not sure who she was, I just knew you're father was very much in love with her."
"Then why was I adopted?"
"We'll get to that later. For now, how about you go meet some people?"
Finn nodded and led me away. The weight of what I was just told finally got to me, and I started swaying. Before I knew it, I had fainted, and hit my head on the oak floor.
