P.S.-this chapter is dedicated to my little brother Nathan (aka Nato)-who's my own Grayson, and has taught me so much about autism and will always be an inspiration to me.

Chapter Six
Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.
Oscar Wilde
A few hours later, I walked to lunch with Nina as she discussed my awesomeness. It wasn’t until we almost got to our table when she turned to me.
“Wait a minute, Braxton? Since when do you talk to Braxton?” She asks curiously. I feel my face flush and shrug, chewing on my lip as I plunk down in my seat.
“Now wait, I have to know about this. Braxton- the new guy; the hot guy? He just came up to you and talked to you?” Nina asked, trying to dissect this new development in my social life.
I thought back to when I first talked to him. “Well, first he apologized for the idiots that made me trip in spaghetti sauce.” This made her laugh. “Then, the next day when I was walking towards the building before school, we talked when we walked in. Then he was in my class later, then this morning we have a class too.” A smile spread across Nina’s face, but my stomach was sinking. “Oh my god, I hope he doesn’t think I’m a total bitch now. I forgot he saw all that.”
“Nah, I’d say you’re okay,” Nina comforted.
I snorted. “Why you think that?”
“Because he’s walking towards you now.” Shocked, I turned to look behind me, and surely enough he was walking towards my table. I turned back towards Nina slightly to pretend I hadn’t been totally gawking, and half expected him to sit at the table next to us. But, for some unknown reason, he walks up to me.
“Well, if it isn’t for Miss ‘I Don’t Care’,” Braxton said with a smile, and I smiled back at him, trying to disguise my sigh of relief for a laugh, and shrugged.
“It’s her new take on life, and I have to say I love it!” Nina interjected, and I gave her a look out of the corner of my eye.
“If nothing else, you shut that girl up,” Braxton said with a smile, and I found myself smiling back even if there were still butterflies in my stomach.
“Do you have somewhere to sit?” I found myself asking. He turned his head to look over his shoulder, and I followed his gaze. He was looking at the large table of upper class jocks and Pradabees, and I felt my smile disappear. Why would he spend his time with a fifteen year old dork anyway? I looked down at my hoodie again, and pulled down my sleeves to my palms.
“Can I sit with you guys?” Braxton asked, and I looked up at him with surprise.
“Hell yeah!” Nina exclaimed, reaching over the seats between us to shove my book bag in the floor.
