Chapter 2

It felt as if the entire universe collapsed on my shoulders at that very moment. I looked at this man standing in front of me in disbelief wondering why would he say something like that if it were not true?

I studied his face for some sign of dishonesty or lies but wound up studying all his features. My eyes locked with his and I saw the identical color of his eyes that had perfectly matched Lilly, my mother and I. The structure of his face was strong and chisled as was Lilly and I's.

I hadn't realized how long we stood there in silence until i heard him calling my name. "Ellie..Ellie!"

I snapped out of the trance as quick as i fell into it, "How? My father died when Lilly and I were just born, and my mother is a drunk that never leaves the house! There is no way in hell you are my stepbrother. So if this is your way of playing some sick fucking prank, leave.me.alone."

He stood there and looked like i just tore his heart out and threw it to the ground. But there's no way he was my brother and I would never believe it, no matter how much he resembled me. 

"Ellie please ju-"

" no leave me alone, i just lost MY fucking sister and you think it would be okay to joke around like that you sick ba-"

"ELLIE" he yelled with the most bone chilling voice i had ever heard in my life.

I stepped back away from him with my entire body frozen in fear, I guess he then realized he had scared me and his eyes softened as he walked towards me. My first reaction was to just step back again.

"Please forgive me Ellie, I didn't mean to frighten you. I just need you to listen to me for a few minutes and i can explain everything. Can you do that Ellie? Please?"

I wanted to speak but no words were forming, it felt as though i had lost my voice entirely.

"Please Ellie"

A sudden rush of anger and denial hit me like a ton of rocks "NO. NO I WONT SIT HERE AND LISTEN TO YOUR COMPLETE BULLSHIT!!"

I could feel my face heating up against the chill of the winter breeze, how could this man into my life after loosing Lilly and claim to be our brother.. our stepbrother?

" I dont know your name, i have no idea how you know me and my sister but stay away from me"

I began to turn to walk away but his hand caught my wrist. "Let.Go.Of.Me.NOW"

"Collin Hastings"

"what?"

"you said you did not know my name it's Collin Hastings"

even his last name matched mine. I didn't know what to say or do but stare at him in complete disbelief. He studied my face and cupped my face drying of the tear i didn't know was there.

"Please stop crying Ellie "

I said nothing " your father did not die Ellie, he's very much alive and well"

"why would she lie to us?" i said to more to myself then to Collin

"He's a very dangerous man Ellie, i can see why mother kept you away from him"

"She knows you exist?"

"Yes, you and Lilly had just turning 6 so i wouldn't expect you to remember"

"You lived with us...?"

"Yes, for a few years until i was old enough to leave and support myself. I can'f forgive myself for leaving you there with that drunk of a mother and her abusive husband, one day i beg to you that you can forgive me"

His eyes brimmed with unshed tears and  he placed his head in his hands before he began to speak again

"Mother was a bit of a mischievous woman in her young days when she became pregnant with me. When I was born our father knew i wasn't his, as i got older he began to beat me as well as our mother, calling her all types of names Ellie. He's not a good man. I turned sixteen and i packed all my stuff and left. But before i did me and your father had gotten into a fist fight one that would've led to his death if mother hadn't gotten between us. I kissed both of you goodbye and told you i'd be back for you both one day... I've always kept tabs on both of you, you guys are my life and nothing has changed that. I became who i am today to get you out of this hell hole life you and Lilly lived in. I finally was in a good place financially that i could support you and Lilly and wanted to head out here and collect you both... but then i, i saw the news and saw Lilly's face plastered on every news channel and i knew i was time to come down here and tell you the truth"

As i listened i didn't move, i let out a breath i didn't know I was holding in after he finished telling his side of the story. My whole life... was a lie, my fathers still alive, my mother was a whore, but Lilly was still missing

"Your two months late, Lilly disappeared two months ago"

"i've been here since Ellie, this entire time trying to find clues"

"clues? what do you mean clues Collin?" I sat impatiently waiting for his answer.

He sighed and looked me in the eyes as if he didn't know what to say.

"She's not dead Ellie, your father has her somewhere i can not find nor know how i can find it, she's in danger Ellie they'll kill her"

I saw nothing but black cloud around me and engulf me into it's embrace as i barely heard "ELLIE! ELLIE PLEASE ANSWER ME"

Everything went black and i was gone.
