It had been a week since I had met with Sean, and he was still very much on my mind constantly. I had always had a crush on him, from his Boondock and Young Indie days, but now I felt like I was infatuated with him. I would be going along my daily routine and his deep, soft blue eyes and delicious cheek bones would flash across my mind; I would envision that perfectly toned body and his infectious laugh.

“Winter, hurry up in there!” Deana yelled; Damn it, I was doing it again! My two minute shower had grew to quarter of an hour, as I stood under the hot water, imaging what it would be like to have Mr Flanery lathering me up with those strong hands.

“I’ll be out in a sec!” I hollered back, rinsing the soap suds off my body and stepping out into a towel. I dried off and threw my dress for the evening on; a black little number with lace around the breast area; not too slutty but not too old lady either.

I exited the bathroom and received a compliment from my dear friend, “Wow hunni, you look smoking hot!” she exclaimed, eyeing me up and down. I blushed a little; I sucked at accepting compliments. I sat down at the dresser and pulled my golden blonde hair up into an up do, letting some bangs around the front loose around the frame of my oval face. I decided it would do and applied a little foundation and lip gloss and I quick applied mascara and some blush to finish my look; I didn’t like to be plastered in cosmetics, the more natural the better for me.

“So this place your friend’s invited us to; am I gonna like it?” I asked warily, looking at my friend who smirked mischievously back at me.

“Oh I think you will.”

Just before we entered the massive, million dollar looking house, Deana stopped me and began rummaging in her purse, “Here, put this on before we go in.”

I gasped in shock as she pulled out a masquerade mask; it was gold, the perfect match for my hair and skin tone, a couple of gold and black feathers plumed out of the top, the mask itself was lined with tiny sparkling sequins. It was actually quite beautiful to look at; I was just curious as to why I needed to wear one. “Hang on D, what’s all this about?”

I looked at Deana who is already putting her purple and silver mask over her eyes, “Don’t give me that look Winter! You should know what sort of parties they have up here in the hills!”

I bit my bottom lip, wanting to pull the mask away from her face and let it snap back on the end of her nose, “Christ Deana, you could of mentioned you were taking me to some weird ‘let’s-have-sex-with-strangers’ ball!” I hissed at her through clenched teeth; I knew what was going on here, Deana had talked about wanting to go to these sorts of parties for years.

“Come on girl, you don’t have to do anything you don’t wanna, just come inside and have a drink; have some much needed fun.”

I stared hard at her for a while longer, finally huffing out a ragged breath and rolling my eyes, “Ok, but only cos I’m already here. I can’t believe you, you horny bitch!” I grinned for the last half of the sentence; I could never stay mad at my best girl. I took the mask and put it on, my hazel eyes peeked out of the holes in the mask, “Let’s do this.”

She laughed as we strolled through the front door.

The bitch left me; straight up, ten minutes in, some random guy asks her to dance and she’s gone just like that. “I’ll be two minutes!” she had called back to me as he dragged her away; that had been an hour and ten minutes ago. I’d resorted to sitting at the pool’s edge in the back garden; it was surprisingly quiet out there as everyone was too busy trying to fuck each other inside. I’d kicked off my heels and dipped my feet in the cool water, swishing them back and forth as I sipped on my tenth cocktail; I was pissed off and wasn’t interested in watching how much I drank.
