"Where are we even going?" Emma asked, frowning. The two had spent what felt like hours in a neverending embrace until they finally broke apart due to Regina having an idea.
Regina had swept her from the coffee shop, and the two had gotten on the subway.
"It's a surprise. It's one of my favorite places in the city." Regina smiled. Her fingers moved up to work their way through Emma's hair. Emma leaned against her, pressing her face into Regina's shoulder.
She was embarrassed and didn't want Regina to see the look of enjoyment on her face.
Regina knew all too well what she was doing, though. She stopped touching Emma's hair immediately, causing Emma to groan.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Was I doing something you enjoyed?" Regina asked, smirking. Emma grunted in reponse. "Well, since I can't hear you, I'll assume that's a no. I'll stop, dear, unless you say otherwise." She added innocently.
"Okay, come back please." Emma said, looking up at Regina.
"Come back? I'm right here!" Regina chuckled and looked down at Emma, who was still pressed against her.
"I like it when you touch my hair, alright?" Emma said exasperatedly. Regina laughed and placed a gentle kiss to Emma's forehead.
"Of course, dear." She said as she brought her hand once again to Emma's hair. She ran her fingers through the long blonde hair causing Emma to sigh happily.
The train jolted to a stop and Regina's free hand moved protectively to Emma's back, halting the both of them.
Emma blushed and smiled.
"What?" Regina questioned, unable to control a smile from appearing on her own face.
"You. Oh my god, you're actually with me." Emma said in wonder.
"I definitely am." Regina said softly.
"Does that mean I can kiss you whenever, because I really want to kiss you." Emma said seriously.
"You may kiss me whenever you wish." Regina whispered.
Emma's eyes met Regina's and she leaned in to kiss her. Their lips met in a gentle kiss, a flood of unspoken words passing between them. There was warmth and soft passion, and it was better than either of them had expected.
When they broke apart, Emma grinned.
"Oh yeah, I could get used to that." She said.
"Think you made the right choice in saying yes?" Regina teased.
"Regina Mills, anyone in their right mind would say yes if they had the honor of being chosen by you. In case you hadn't noticed, you're incredible." Emma said.
"Well, thank you. As are you." Regina said. "And it looks like we've reached our destination." She added, slipping her hand into Emma's.
They walked out of the subway, and Emma squinted at the sign near the exit stairs.
"We're in BROOKLYN?" She exclaimed dramatically.
"Have you lived in the city this whole time and never stepped foot in Brooklyn? That's so sad. Brooklyn is actually wonderful." Regina said as they walked out of the station.
"We're on the edge of Brooklyn, near the Brooklyn Bridge. Brooklyn Bridge park is cute, and there are some places within it that I enjoy. I'll show you." Regina said. She was pleased that Emma had never been, as she'd be able to be the first to show her the best spots.
"Do you think we could maybe-" Emma's stomach growled hungrily at that moment, causing Regina to chuckle.
"Hungry?" She asked, stifling her laughter.
"I'm starving." Emma groaned.
"How would you like a slice of the best pizza you ever tasted?" Regina grinned.
"Or two. Or three." Emma grinned back cheekily.
"Look up there, near the water. See that building?" Regina said, pointing ahead of them.
Emma squinted her eyes and read the sign.
Juliannas.
"I think I've heard of that place. I didn't know it was in Brooklyn though." Emma admitted.
"There's a lot in Brooklyn." Regina said with a coy smile, and she led Emma into the restaurant.
It was packed with people, but luckily there was no line. They were seated immediately, and Emma was practically drooling from the smell of pizza.
When the waiter approached them, Emma looked at the menu excitedly.
"What's your favorite?" She asked.
"The margarita, hands down." Regina responded immediately.
"Let's get one of those then."
"Deal." Regina smiled. Emma smiled back. Her eyes fell upon Regina's eyes, making it impossible to stop smiling.
She took in the gorgeous chocolate brown eyes, flecked with gold, savouring every moment she got to look into them. She admired the few small lines that crinkled at the corners of those beautiful eyes at every smile. Her heart fluttered when her eyes landed on Regina's full lips, and the small scar on her top lip. She imagined kissing them again, and her heart shot into her throat. She moved on, looking at Regina's incredibly soft, deep brown locks. She was entranced by Regina Mills.
"What?" Regina asked softly as she watched Emma stare at her.
"You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, and I really cannot believe you're sitting in front of me right now." Emma admitted. "So I'm taking it all in." She added.
Regina blushed lightly and moved her hand across the table to lace her fingers through Emma's.
"I'm not going anywhere, dear." Regina said affectionately. Her thumb moved gently against the back of Emma's hand, sending chills down her spine.
The server came and placed the pizza down, forcing them to separate their hands. Emma could immediately feel the loss of warmth in her hand and frowned.
"I would have thought you'd be on your second slice by now." Regina teased.
"Only the first date, and you already know me so well." Emma joked.
"Oh? Is this our first date?" Regina asked.
"Officially, yup." Emma said.
"Well, then I better make sure it's a good one." Regina smiled.
Emma took a bite of her pizza and moaned at the taste.
"Oh my god. This is the best thing I've ever tasted." Emma announced.
"I've already had to wipe whipped cream off of you, don't make me do the same with your pizza sauce. That's too cliche for me." Regina teased.
Emma blushed, using her napkin to wipe the sauce from her face.
They talked for a long time, immensely enjoying eachother's company.
"We'll be walking outside for a bit, so you may want to use the restroom now." Regina advised. Emma shrugged and left to use the bathroom. While she was gone, Regina quickly paid for the bill.
While Emma was coming back, she realized what had just happened.
"You little..." She gritted her teeth.
"Hm?" Regina asked innocently.
"Sneak." Emma concluded.
"Oh just hush. I took you to the pizza place, I pay for it. Let's go." Regina smirked. She laced her fingers through Emma's again and brushed her lips to her ear. "You can pay me back in other ways." She whispered.
Emma shivered, wondering what was in store for her.
