|‘No matter what what love throws at you, you have to believe in it. You have to believe in love stories, prince charmings and happily ever after.’|
The rain soaked through Christine's layered clothing, making her shiver from the chilly February air. She raced past the Opera Populaire and beyond. She looked back at the Opera House she once used to call home. Her ears where on high alert for any possible trail.
Christine slowed the horse down to a trot as she neared the small cottage. She flinched as she heard a twig snap close by. She frantically searched around but felt stupid as she realized it was her own horse. She got off the horse and slapped his rear hoping he would go home. She walked quickly but cautiously toward the house. From a distance she peered through the window. There was a healthy fire blazing in the fireplace. Her curiosity pulling at her more, she walked up to the door taking a shaky hand she turned the door knob.
Inside the cottage he heard the sound of the door knob turn and immediately got up to hide. Who would be visiting me at this time?!
Christine heard the sound of movement as she turned the knob and opened the door. She step inside as she looked around in the dim light of the fire. "Madame Giry?" She called out thinking it was the Giry's. "Meg?"
He froze. Christine was standing in the living area of the cottage, her entire body wet from the rain. "Christine?" He accidentally choked out.
Christine gasped as she froze. He... 'He' my Angel. "Angel?" She asked just as shocked as he. She looked around trying to pinpoint his voice. Tears rolled down her face as she shivered from the cold and shock. He's alive? He's alive! "Please come out Angel." She said her voice cracking slightly.
Still shocked, he came out from behind the bookshelf and stares at Christine's chocolate colored eyes. Christine gasped as she covered her mouth and stepped forward. She uncovered her mouth and stepped forward. She reached out to touch him expecting him to be a figment of her imagination. But she managed to lay her hand on his unmasked cheek without him disappearing. Phantom leaned into her touch as tears fell down his face. "What," he said his voice cracking slightly. He cleared his throat, "What are you doing here?"
"I had to get away. I-I can't stay with him anymore. He's a monster," Christine said barely above a whisper. Christine's hand caressed his face wiping away any tears that fell down his perfect face.
"What do you mean? I thought you loved him? That's why I," he paused, "That's why I let you go."
"I thought I did too. But he only wanted me for a-a... Mistress." Christine said through endless tear.
The Phantom placed his hands on either side of his Angel's face. "Did he..." He asked concern lacing his words.
"No," Christine said rather quickly. "Luckily, it never came to anything."
He let out a sigh of relief. He wiped away the tears. "How did you find me?"
"I received a letter saying someone was waiting for me here." Christine smiled at her surprise.
"Who-" He was about to ask but she cut him off with a kiss.
