The red haired woman I recalled the detective telling me about walked up to the witness stand, hips swaying back and forth in a way that made the men in the gallery swoon. I rolled my eyes. Men these days had no taste in anything, women or otherwise.

"Witness. Name. Job. Now," I instructed simply, ready for her to leave so that we didn't have to listen to the constant buzz of boys in love.

"Mei Kuda. Bartender at Nico Nico Pub," Kuda replied.

"Begin your stupid testimony already," I instructed of her.

"No need to be so sour about it..." Kuda muttered unhappily.

WITNESS TESTIMONY: MEI KUDA- THE POISONING OF THE BOSS

-I was watching when the boss collapsed.

-He went up on the stage to talk about Sullivan Tyler performing his thousandth show with the pub.

-Suddenly, he started gasping for air and collapsed!

-I know that he was poisoned and the poison went missing...

-...But I sadly don't know anything about it. My bad.

"That sure does sound like a traumatic scene you described!" the old fool these people like to call 'the judge' cried. "How terrifying! Defense! Conduct this cross-examination quickly so the witness can go home and recover from this nasty shock!"

"Looks like the judge was wrapped around Ms. Kuda's little finger as well," Older Raine muttered.

"Thankfully, the cross-examination will take no time at all," Lust smirked.

CROSS-EXAMINATION: MEI KUDA- THE POISONING OF THE BOSS

-I was watching when the boss collapsed.

-He went up on the stage to talk about Sullivan Tyler performing his thousandth show with the pub.

-Suddenly, he started gasping for air and collapsed!

-I know that he was poisoned and the poison went missing...

-...But I sadly don't know anything about it. My bad.

"OBJECTION!"

"You don't know anything about the poison? That's just a flat out lie, Ms. Kuda," Lust declared.

"W-what?!" Kuda gasped. "What do you mean?!"

"We spoke with one Sullivan Tyler yesterday, and he told us that you have the ability to mix together things such as drinks and even poisons!" Lust exclaimed.

The people in the gallery began to buzz, forming a din that hung above the courtroom. I sighed. What would it take to get these guys to shut up?

"Order!!" the judge cried. "Defense! What does this mean?!"

"This means that this witness was an accomplice to the murder!" Lust shouted.

I sighed. "You aren't taking this chance to accuse her of the murder? That's pathetic," I told him.

"She couldn't have committed the crime because when the victim's drink was poisoned, Ms. Kuda was with the other employees at the bar, meaning that she didn't at all plant the poison into the victim's drink for him to ingest and die over," Lust explained. "But this doesn't at all mean that she couldn't have helped out the real killer and provide them with the poison!"

Kuda looked down nervously, playing with her fingers nervously. "I-I... I-I didn't do that!!" she yelled. She pulled out a drink from her belt and began drinking from it out of stress.

"And how could you prove this?!" Lust yelled. "You were blackmailed by the killer into making him the poison that caused the victim's demise, weren't you?!"

Kuda gasped, drink still in her mouth. Her tiny water bottle, which was filled with brown liquid, went flying everywhere when she did so, the shock of this accusation taking over her already panicked form. I brushed a few drops of the drink off of my arm. Ew.

"Is this a confession, witness?!" the judge demanded with wide eyes.

"T-there was this guy..." Kuda began in a whisper. "The night of the crime... He walked to the alley outside the pub with me..."

"Huh?" Younger Raine questioned. "What did this guy do?"

"He had this thing... A scarf or something, and..." Kuda continued.

"Your shirt... I notice that it covers up your neck," Lust commented.

Kuda nodded slightly. "H-he took the scarf and slipped it around my neck... He tightened it to the point that I couldn't breathe... After about a minute or there about, he let go... He told me that he would really do that to me if I told the court that I let him blackmail me into blending him some poison... I was so nervous... So I went ahead and made it for him, not realizing that he was going to do something that insane with it to somebody the very same day..."

"So you really got blackmailed by the killer?!" the judge exclaimed.

Kuda nodded again. "Yeah... I did get blackmailed by him..."

"You say it was a male?" Lust asked. "The defendant is clearly female, which means that the killer was not the defendant!"

The judge considered this for a few seconds. "If there aren't any objections, I would like to adjourn court for one more day," he began.

Lust smirked and played with his bow tie pridefully. "The defense has no objections to that, Your Honor," he declared smugly. I glared at him. He was taking apart my case and he's just a stupid rookie! Nothing more than an amateur and he's beating me so badly!!

"And the prosecution?" the judge asked, tilting his head in my direction.

I frowned and hesitated. If I took this offer, maybe I could get out of Sora's body and let her do all the hard investigating while I pondered a way to win the case. The offer of leaving this embarrassment behind consoled me, so after a few more moments of absolute silence, I nodded. "The prosecution also has no objections," I murmured, looking away nervously.

"In that case, court is now adjourned for one more day of investigation!" the judge declared. He brought his gavel down in a swift motion and stood from his seat, walking across the courtroom to the doors.

I walked out after everybody else had left. I couldn't believe that in a matter of two hours, I was already on the verge of defeat. I muttered a few curses on the names of the defense team before sulking out of the courthouse, looking for a good rock to kick. Kicking things always helped me take out my frustration when the world was hating me more than usual.
