I turn off the engine and walk into the school. As im walking down the hallways, I run into Jake, dropping my bag and my stuff going everywhere, making a mess in the walkway.
"Sorry Jake!" I say quickly dropping to my knees and scrambling to pick up the mess.
"It's okay, Doll face" He smirks.
"Don't call me that." I growl looking up at the shaggy haired brunette.
"Why not, Doll face?" He asks stepping onto my sketch book.
"Because I don't like it. And I would really appreciate it if you took your foot off my book." I said politley, hoping for him to move. But I'm not surprised when he doesn't move.
"Okay, Doll face." I roll my eyes and grab my book out from under his removed foot.
I scurry down the halls and into the girls bathroom in the Key building.
"Talyor! I've been waiting for you!" she squeals and hugs me.
"Sorry.'' I state and rummage through my bag for my sketch book while Sierra does the same.
"What took you so long?" She asks breaking the silence.
"I ran into Jake in the hall and my stuff fell all over the floor." I tell her.
She nods her head, "Why does he have to be such an ass?"
"Because he's Jake, and he has nothing better to do with his time. You realize that the only reason he's in college is because his dad is the principle here, right?"
"I know, I know.. Now let me see your drawing, Mrs. Fauntree." She tries to say perfessionally.
"If you say so, Mrs. Mckenlee." I hand her my sketch book and she hands me hers.
"This looks good, just fix the shading here, here, and here." I say pointing to some parts.
"Okay cool. Thanks Tay!. Yours looks perfect.. Like always." she smiles showing her white teeth.
We head off to class, searching for any signs of Jake. As we get to class, our teacher, mr. Cegien clears his throat, "Taylor, Sierra." and goes back to sketching his monkey on the projector.
"Did you see the look on Jake's face after Mr. Cegien told him to just drop out because he's so bad?" Sierra and I screeched with laughter once we left the classroom.
"Yeah! And then Jake stood up and towere over him and cussed him out!" She said wiping a tear away.
We're still laughing about what happened as we reach the parkinglot where our cars are parked.
"Uhm.. Taylor?" She asks suddenly stopping her laughing fit,
"Yeah?" I ask looking for my keys out of my bag,
"Look at your car." She says grabbing my face, squishing my cheeks in the process, and jerking my head to my, now crashed, truck. I see Jake with running his hands through his hair, looking at his car thats crashed into mine.
"JAKE WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?" I run towards him only to see his tear stained cheeks. Is he crying? "Jake?" I say my voice softer.
"I'm so sorry Taylor! Please don't hate me!" He looks up at me with pleading eyes.
"Jake. What happened?" I asked, my voice soft, but firm.
"I was backing up and my breaks failed and then I ran into your car. I'm so sorry." He pleads, not looking at me.
"Taylor I have to go!" Sierra says giving me a hug."Give me a call after you sort this out okay, Love?" ske asks. I nod my head and watch her head to her car, start it, and leave the school grounds.
"It's okay Jake. Ugh. I'll call a toe truck. But you do know that since this if your fault, you have to pay the expences, right?" I ask him leaning up against my truck.
He sighs, running a hand through his shiny brown hair. I wish I could feel it. Wait, what? "Yeah. I know." he breaks my thoughts.
"Hey Jake?"
"Yes, Taylor?" His grey-blue eyes meet mine.
"Why are you always a prick towards me?" Jake and I have known each other since third grade, and our memories consist of him always picking on me, him always telling him how much better he is than me, him telling me how stupid I am, how ugly I look, or him shoving me down. I don't know what I did to deserve it.
He takes a deep breath before he answers. "It's because I like you and I was-and still am- afraid of getting rejected. Ever since 4th grade, Taylor. I really like you"
