Ryan: I want to die.
Grace: What did you just say?
Ryan: I want to –
Grace: No. You don't. You don't understand the feeling anymore, Ryan.
Ryan: Are you telling me I'm not depressed?
Grace: With the way you've been acting, you can't seriously be depressed.
Ryan: You don't know me.
Grace: You'd be surprised about what I know.
Ryan: You've never been depressed in your lifetime.
Grace: Here's the thing – I have. My mom's dead. Been dead ever since I was born. She died from blood loss, trying to give birth to me. My dad is an alcoholic and used to beat me whenever he came home. The police arrested him after three years of abuse. That's why I'm a therapist now. To help people who've experienced those things. You used to be like me. You've changed, Ryan – for the better. Don't ever say you want to die ever again.
