-Lucy's P.O.V-
I stared in awe at the monument. In contrast to the dingy room it was almost immaculate, sparkling in the dim light, without a speck of dust on its golden surface. I couldn't seem to tear my eyes away from it. "So you found it" A smooth, male voice from behind startled me, making me jump. I spun around in fright, to face the owner of the voice, but I could only see the faces of my confused comrades. "Luce, you okay?" Natsu asked, seeing my state of shock. I stared at him. "You can't hear it?" I said, baffled. "Hear what?" He replied. He looked at me, head on one side, confused. "Luce, are you sure you're okay? Maybe all this stress is giving you hallucinations. We should take a rest." I shook my head furiously. "No, no Natsu, I'm not hallucinating! Someone just spoke to me, I swear it!" I was almost hysterical at this point, terrified. Who was this? How could nobody else hear them. I looked around, searching for somebody, anybody, that the voice could belong to. "Silly girl" The voice mocked me. It continued to come through, even when I covered my ears with my hands. "Nobody else can hear me but you. I'm inside your head. Blocking me out won't do a thing. Theres nothing you can do except listen". Stifling screams with my hands, I sat hugging my knees on the filthy carpet. The voice continued. "You found the sacred monument of the chosen Exceed. I thought you might. I suppose I underestimated you and your little pals. Ah, well, it matters not. You won't get in my way. And if you try to, I'll destroy you and your comrades. Consider this a warning, girl" The voice stopped. I was now reduced to a shivering heap, rocking back and forth, my breathing rapid and heavy. "Luce? LUCE!?" Natsu ran to me in shock, grasping my shoulder tightly, as Happy landed a short distance away, staring up at me in horror. "Lushee's posessed!" Happy exclaimed, waddling up to me and examining my shaking form. "Luce? Luce, speak to me!" Natsu persisted, I covered my face with my hands, unable to slow my breathing. Natsu slackened his grip slightly, his hand still resting on my shoulder, but less vice like. Somehow, it was comforting. I gulped the air, taking deep breaths, pulling myself together. I sat up and faced my two comrades, looking at both of them directly. They stared me back, neither of us breaking eye contact. "We need to get out of this place. Now. It's too dangerous." I told my companions. Natsu looked at me for a second or two, unsure. But eventually he nodded, addressing Happy. "She's right, you know. We can't stay here." Happy shook his head incredulously. "Lushee, Natsu, how could you say that? Charle could be in here, anywhere!" He clung to the Exceed statue. "I'm not leaving! I love Charle-lu and I'm going to save her!" he cried. Me and Natsu exchanged weary glances. "Happy, c'mon." Natsu pulled his foot, trying to prise him from the statue. Happy wouldn't budge, determined. "I won't go!" He screamed. Natsu tugged, a little too hard. The statue toppled over and crashed to the ground, shattering into a million pieces. It was silent for a short time, eerily quiet. Nobody moved. Suddenly, I felt a mysterious force slam me into the cold ground, and the little light in the room was extinguished. I began to struggle, but I was far too weak to resist. I could hear the anguished cries of Natsu and Happy nearby. The voice rung inside my head once more. "Oh, now you've really done it, blondie. I warned you. Now you're going to pay."
