Author's Note:
Hi, everyone! Here's a few details about this chapter that'll help clear up any confusion.
First, all of the characters have wonderful British accents, save for Emma and Regina. They are in London after all.
Second, I tried to match up the Once characters to those found in Wedding Date, so here's a list for reference: Regina as Nick, Emma as Kat, Katherine as Amy (Kat's sister), Neal as Ed, Killian as Jeffrey, Bunny and Victor as themselves, Ruby as TJ, and August as Woody (for obvious reasons).
And lastly, I've always thought of Emma as a nickname, so in this story, her first name is Emilia. And again, no copyright infringement intended, and the characters are not my own. Oh, but if they were, SwanQueen would be endgame!
When they arrived at the party, Emma shifted nervously from foot to foot, biting her lip.
"I don't know if I can do this," Emma whispered.
Regina looped her arm with Emma's and stroked her hand.
"You'll be fine, dear. I've dealt with worse."
The walked over to the guest book and signed their names, only to be ambushed by Emma's family.
"Dear girl, where have you been?" An elderly woman asked, smiling at Emma as she turned around.
Emma smiled back. "Aunt Bea, how nice to see you."
"You know, this should have been you getting married." Aunt Bea began, "And you didn't have to return the gardening sheers. Have you seen Killian? To think, he's the best man,"
"This is Regina," Emma interjected and Regina smiled graciously, extending her hand.
"Nice to meet you." Regina said earnestly, or at least it seemed so.
Aunt Bea smiled and shook her hand. "Charming. And you're..."
"A professor, and Emma's girlfriend." Regina said without missing a beat.
Aunt Bea paled and dropped Regina's hand. "Oh, well, have a lovely time."
She turned to Emma and feigned a small smile. "Good to see you, darling."
Then she shuffled off into the crowd without another glance.
"That went well." Emma said sarcastically and Regina draped an arm around her waist.
"No one said it would be easy, but remember, I'm here for you." Regina replied and Emma smiled sheepishly. "Now let's get a drink."
"Agreed." Emma said and led Regina to the bar.
"2 scotch, on the rocks," Regina ordered and leaned against the bar.
Suddenly another woman came running over to Emma, yelling her name.
"Emilia! Emilia, darling! What took you so long?" The woman asked as she came closer, hugging Emma tight. "Did you find some hunkie on the plane?"
"Mom, now is not the time," Emma said bluntly, clearly unenthused.
She let go of Emma and looked over Regina. "Who might you be?"
"Regina Mills. It's a pleasure to meet you." Regina replied.
Bunny smiled and quirked a brow. "And how do you know my daughter?"
Emma rolled her eyes, "Mom—"
"Bunny, in public darling," Bunny corrected.
Regina only grinned and squeezed Emma's hand. "She's my girlfriend. We've been dating for the better part of two years."
