"You're a little early, aren't you?" Darren asked as I pushed open the door to his bedroom.

"Better an hour early than a minute late, right?" I smirked at him.

He rolled his eyes at me and motioned for me to sit down beside him.

I cautiously walked over to him and sat down on the bed, making the bed sink slightly more to my side.

He snorted. "Fatass."

"Look who's talking," I threw back as I slapped his abdomen.

"You mean the one with the six pack?" he cooly said as he flashed me a smile. As his smile got wider, dimples appeared on the middle of his cheeks.

I raised a finger to his cheek, but before I could do anything, he swatted my hand away.

"No," he firmly said.

I crossed my arms across my chest and pouted. "No fair!"

"You're so cute," he commented as he ruffled my hair and chuckled.

I took the opportunity to poke the crease in his cheek that created the dimple.

Suddenly, he grabbed my arms and pinned me to the bed. He smirked.

"Not so fat now, am I?"

"Actually, you're crushing me," I said as I felt the air slowly get sucked out of me.

~~~
I pulled the guitar into my lap for the millionth time and strummed the same notes on my guitar. I hummed along to the song, going at the original speed.
"Wait, stop," Darren said as he turned around in the piano bench to face me.
I stopped in the middle of the song, and put the guitar down on his bed.
"What now?" I asked as I laid down on his bed and made myself comfortable under the blanket.
"Try going a little faster. Just folllow my lead."
I sighed and grabbed the guitar off of my bed.
"Here we go again," I muttered as I waited for Darren to start.
He counted down from 4 and we started the song.
At first, I found it hard to keep up with the new tempo, and I stumbled on a lot of the words. Slowly, I started to get it, and I lost myself in the music, singing with my heart instead of my head.
He sang the last line of the song and I set the guitar down on the stand.
"I think we're ready for this," he said as he got onto his laptop and pulled up the registration form.
"Are you sure?" I asked as I crowded around his desk to get a good view of the form.
"A hundred percent," he reassured me
"Okay," I said as I wiped the palms of my hands on the side of my shorts.
I nervously tapped on the desk with a pencil as I waited for him to print out the sheets.
He returned with a handful of papers. He handed half of them to me and kept half for himself to fill out.
I read through the registration form, memorizing every single word in the fine print at the bottom of the page.
I straightened out the papers on his desk as I sat down on a chair. I ditched the pencil I was holding for a blue pen.
I took a deep breath and started on the process of filling out my registration form.
I looked over the form a million more times before Darren yanked it out of my hands, and put it with his, stuffing both the forms into the top drawer of his desk.
I worriedly glanced at the drawer, then looked up at Darren.
His face softened when he saw me.
"Don't worry, everything's going to be safe and sound," he assured me.
I nodded and sighed.
He wrapped his arms around me from the back in a hug and I put my hands on top of his, the first sign of affection that he'd shown me since he got back.
