This is more like a filler chapter to get you prepared for the next one. You can skip this one if you like but this chapter might be necessary simply for the character development. That's it. Enjoy.

VANSH

It was always advisable to note down the list of groceries your mother asked you to bring from the market. If you don't want to end up like me that is.

I could have sworn I remembered my Mom's words then why, the moment I stepped into the grocery shop, I forgot most of it. Not to mention the vegetables looked exactly the same. Atleast I was intelligent enough to bring my mobile phone. I called Mom and inquired her the details once again.

I purchased a kilogram of potatoes and searched for the rest of the items in the grocery shop. I was humming a tune along with it when my ears picked up an old Bollywood song playing in the radio.

"Jaane kaise, kab, kaha iqrar ho gaya...
Hum sochte hi reh gaye aur pyar ho gyaa~"

(Don't know how, when, where a sense of acceptance developed...
We kept on thinking about it constantly and just like that fell in love)

I moved on to the adjacent shop and purchased a packet of 'Garam Masala.' The previous shop seemed like an empty one anyway. I began rummaging through the shelf, searching for a packet of Pav Bhaji masala amongst many other packets kept in line but couldn't find it. Guess I'll ask the shopkeeper. "Bhaiya, (Brother) do you have a pack of--"

"... Hum sochte hi reh gaye aur pyar ho gya..."

"- Nothing. Just take this," I said above the music playing on the radio and gave the money to him. He gave a questioning look for a fleeting second before fishing the money into the drawer and diverted his attention to the next customer.

As I walked past the vegetable vendors afterwards, the same, stupid song played on their radios as well. Do these people have no other stations in the radio? It's like they magically share the same tastes.

Hurriedly, I reached inside an air conditioned grocery shop and heaved a sigh of relief when the shop was clean of radio. After purchasing all the grocery items, I headed towards the ice cream vendor outside and ordered a scoop of chocolate and butterscotch.

"Hum chup rahe, kuchh na kaha,
Kahne ko kya baaki raha,
Bas aankhon hi aankhon mein izhaar ho gaya.."

(We remained quiet, didn't say anything. There was nothing left to say anyway. Our love was depicted through our mere glances)

My mind faithfully reeled back to the time when I was eyeing Ahana about biting her lower lip by accident. The look of realization on her face was pure gold. A slow smile crept on my lips until I was hit with a cold realisation of what exactly had triggered this memory.

And then it was like my body was moving on its own accord as I snatched the radio kept on the table and turned the damn song off. He questioned my actions when I stopped him by shooting a deadly glare that made him flinch. I snatched the ice cream cone from his hand and walked away briskly.

The stupid song was still going on to my horror. I'd forgotten that the duration lengths of these classics were incredibly long. "Turn the bloody thing off, you bloody morons," I shouted angrily across the vendors as I walked my way back.

The most horrifying part-- That song was still accompanying my ears even after I had reached home. Inside my mind that is.

After delivering the items to my Mom, I rushed to my room and spotted Dhruv on my bed, reading today's newspaper. Upon approaching closer, I noticed the genius was actually solving crossword puzzles.
