"Dad? Dad?" Lucy shouted into the childhood home that she had been living in with her father since moving back to Magnolia. She had become so preoccupied with her rather now fast-moving life while her father was away. When he came back to Magnolia, she wasn't there and Igneel and Grandeeney had to explain the situation that had occurred between her and Natsu. The last thing she wanted her father to know was her sex life, now she was on the way to marrying Natsu."Lucy? What are you doing here? I thought that you were supposed to be with Natsu." Her father strode over to her and pulled her into a tight embrace.
"Natsu had to come back to deal with some stuff that needed his attention." Lucy sighed, feeling a bit weird talking to her father about Natsu; he had never met him before and now he had to hear that she gave her body to him.
"That's okay, I guess, but shouldn't you be with him?" Jude seemed completely calm like nothing had happened.
"Dad, aren't you a little concerned about all this? I mean, it's not like you ever met him or like we ever dated at any time; it just happened." Lucy was a little confused and baffled by his reaction to all the new happenings.
"No, of course not; I think we should talk a little bit about your heritage, your mother had always wanted to be the one that did it." Lucy and her father walked into the living room and sat down on the sectional. The last time she had sat down to have a serious talk with her father in the living room was when her mother died; she ran and locked herself in her room, not wanting to come out.
"Mom wanted to tell me? Did she tell you everything about who she was?" Lucy wondered why her mother waited to tell her but there was no reason for her to dwell on split milk.
"Yes, your mother and I met when she started working for Igneel Dragneel. I needed an eye for the design of our building and she was just the person to accept the job, I used to joke and tell her that she wanted a challenge then she got a husband and daughter out of it. She had an eye for things like being creative because it was part of her life as a fairy. I was drawn to her because of that creativity and I asked her out to dinner; the rest is history as you see." Jude motioned to the house and Lucy, prompting her to realize that she was the end result. Her parents had a love that was the envy of everyone they met.
"When did she tell you about who she was?" Lucy was eager to know where her mother was from, even though she already knew.
"There was a man, I never bothered to remember his name but he had come to the house one day and said he was going to take your mother. He was adamant about taking her and then she showed her power. It was this radiant, bright light and he watched carefully at her as if he were taking in the sight of your mother. She told him that she wouldn't leave because she was pregnant. I found out about her power and about you at the same time. I was happy and confused and proud. I was about to be a father but Layla had dropped a bomb on me when she told me about her history and why she was working with Igneel." Jude paused and waited for his daughter to interject but she was so interested in the story, her silence was consent for him to go on.
"She started from when she was a little girl, she was born into royalty. Her mother had died about the same age as you were when she died and her father had begun training her to take the throne but he had been grooming her to take a husband as well. She had been frustrated about it for a long time and on her eighteenth birthday she decided to run away but on that same night, her father, her people, and everyone she loved with all her heart had been taken away. A few of her people had gotten away from the mix-up of everything. He had wanted her so badly, that he practically decimated the entire race of Fairies. Her last name was Faye when I met her, Faye means fairy. You're one of the few left and I know your mother would have loved to see her people thriving once again but that's not something you can be responsible for." Lucy listened to her father as he told her the story of her mother, and she started crying.
Before she could speak, the doorbell rang and opened with fast footsteps following it down the hall. The footsteps belonged to her quite distressed mate slash soon-to-be husband, who looked like he had been run over by a truck. He walked over to Lucy, completely ignorant of her father in the room.
"Lucy, are you okay? I felt you hurting and sad. Didn't you feel my presence when I was here?" Natsu took her hands after embracing her.
"Natsu, I take it?" Natsu jumped, remembering that he wasn't in his house.
"Mr. Heartfilia, I'm so sorry I haven't properly introduced myself to you. My name is Natsu Dragneel, I'm your daughter's fiance and her mate." Natsu extended his hand, afraid of what her father might do but Jude pulled him into a hug.
"You're my son now, you can call me Jude." Natsu and Jude smiled at each other making Lucy tear up once again.
"Lucy, are you okay?" Natsu seemed like he was in constant worry about her, making Jude smile and laugh at their antics.
He was glad that Lucy had found someone that could love Lucy the way he loved Layla. He was sure Layla was looking on from where ever she was and smiling at the sight.
