My brother James and I were trying to kill each other this morning, nothing new. I dumped water on his head yesterday to get him out of bed, and this morning when I took a shower he died my hair purple. The little brat. I currently had a baseball bat in my hand and was running after him. James's weapon of defense, a book. Really thought that threw didn't you Brother?
"Turn it back!" I yelled at him.
"No way! You dumped water on my head yesterday!"
"So! You do it to me all the time!"
"Do not!"
"Do too!"
"Do not!"
"Do too!"
"Both of you stop it right now." Our mother said coming into the room. She glanced at us and her eyes widened when she saw my hair. "James Charles Potter! Change her hair back, right this instant."
"But she dumped water on me yesterday." James defended himself.
"Now!" Mom yelled at him.
"Fine." He changed my hair back to the brown color I love.
"Thank you."
"Yeah, yeah. Come here, you." He pulled me into hug. After he let me go he ran upstairs, probably to write to Remus about the full moon tomorrow.
Mom came back int he room and gave me a hug before she left for work. "Bye. Love you, have a good day and stay out of trouble." She kissed me on my head before leaving.
"Love you too."
I started to make breakfast for James and I when there was a knock at the door. "I got it!" I called up to James before I ran to the door and opened it.
To say I was shocked was an understatement. On my porch step was my best friend, Sirius Black. His hair was messed up, his clothes were ripped up and hanging off his body. His face was the worse, all bloody and bruised. He looked awful.
"Sirius..." I breathed out before he passed out in my arms. "JAMES!" I screamed in a panic. "JAMES! COME QUICK! IT'S SIRIUS!"
James came running down the stairs. He glanced at me trying to keep Sirius in my arms before he ran and helped me get him upstairs to the guest room.
"What happened?" He asked me as we were trying to get Sirius settled.
"I don't know. He didn't say anything." I whispered. "James I have to heal him." I said before I ran to the bath room and grabbed my wand and medical supplies we keep for when Remus and the boys get hurt on a full moon. I went back into the bedroom where James was changing Sirius into some clean clothes.
"Can you fix him?" James asked dejectedly staring at his best friend.
"I can try." I whispered fighting back my tears before I examined him. I muttered a healing spell under my breath and his bruises vanished. I started cleaning his cuts and taking care of the blood on his face.
When I finished I told James that I was going to go make breakfast for everyone. James said that he was going to write to Remus and Peter. I started making Sirius's and mine's favorite. Hash-browns, bacon, and over easy eggs.
When I finished I got two trays ready for the boys. James was going to eat in Sirius's room. I poured them each a glass of milk before levitating it up to the guest room where I heard James and Sirius talking.
"So I just came here because I didn't know where else to go." Sirius whispered brokenly.
"You can stay here as long as you want." James promised him.
"I don't want to intrude."
"You won't be intruding, Sirius." I told him as I came in with the food. I gave one to James and one to Sirius.
"What about you?" Sirius asked me.
"I'm not hungry." I said examining him.
"You need to eat." He insisted.
"I'm not hungry." I repeated.
"J..." James started.
"How do you feel?" I asked Sirius interrupting James.
"Better, I guess. Thanks for healing me."
"Your welcome."
"I suppose I owe you an explanation." He whispered.
"You don't owe me anything." I said trying not to cry at his broken expression.
"I'm going to go take a bath." James said as he finished his breakfast.
"Okay." I whispered.
James kissed the back of my head before he left the room.
When Sirius finished his breakfast, he patted the spot next to him.
"What's wrong?" He asked me as I laid next to him.
"Nothing."
"Something's wrong. You look like you're going to cry."
"You scared me when you showed up on my step all broken and then you passed out." I said blinking back tears from my eyes but one escaped. I immediately brushed it away.
"James said you almost looked worse than me." Sirius joked.
I glanced up at him with a serious expression. (No pun intended) He sighed and sat up. He winced.
"Don't hurt yourself!" I exclaimed horrified.
"J, I'm fine." He said exasperatedly.
"No your not!"
"Stop mollycoddling me!" He finally snapped at me.
I pulled away immediately turning to walk out the door.
"No! Jessie, wait! I'm sorry!" Sirius called after me. "Jess, just wait a damn minute!" He said coming up behind me holding my waist tightly. "Don't leave me. I'm sorry I snapped, I just don't want o appear weak." He mumbled the last part dipping his head into my neck.
I tried to keep my composer and stay mad at him which wasn't normally all that hard because usually he doesn't hold me but when he doesn't its hard as hell to not to stay mad at him.
I finally found my voice. "I wouldn't want to me mollycoddling you." I hissed coldly before storming out of the room.
