"Forget me?" he asks as he steps to the side near someone's fence.

He reaches through the opening between wood, and grabs something, pulling it out slowly between the wooden beams. He plucks a delicate little forget-me-not and holds it in front of him towards me.

"Forget me not, gorgeous," he grins.

I change back into a human as I take another step back.

"What do you want?"

"You were the one who texted me saying you were in, right?" he says as he walks towards me. "The real question is why are you here?"

"I was meeting a friend at the library."

"This late at night? With your injuries?"

"I'm fine, leech," I snap, "Look, I-"

"Changed your mind? I don't think so. You have questions and so do I. I think we can help each other figure out the answers to our questions together."

"Questions like?" I cross my arm in front of my chest.

"Like who killed your mother and started the fire? Why did your grandfather go missing-"

"How do you know my grandfather is missing?"

"Celeste, your grandfather was good friends with my grandmother when he was your age. And there is a legend between our families so my grandmother wishes for us to stay close."

"Wait... legend?"

"I'm not good at explaining things. Come and talk to my grandmother with me."

"Um... no. I barely know you, dude, and I don't believe you."

"Fine. We'll go to the chief. He'll know about the legend."

"He lives that way," I say as I point behind Eli. "Have fun."

I turn to start walking away, and I feel a hand on my shoulder. He spins me back around and shakes his head.

"Oh no. I'm in danger here by myself. I need you to come with me. The wolves in your pack won't hurt me if I have the next in line with me."

"Next in line for what? And what, like a hostage or something?"

"No. Nothing like that. Just please come with me."

"Why should I?"

"Because honestly," he leans in close to me and whispers, "I am kind of terrified of being here on my own."

"Big, old leech like you scared of a couple of puppies?" I smirk.

"As a matter of fact, yes. And for your information, ninety-six is not that old for a vampire."

"Okay fine," I say as I walk passed him groaning. "Come this way, baby leech."

He follows me as I walk away from the fence and down the road. I reach into my back pocket for my phone and notice Eli looking at me.

°What?" I ask checking the time.

"Where do your clothes and personal items go when you change into a wolf?"

I think about it and shrug, "I'm not really sure. They kind of just disappear but when I change back everything is right where I leave it. Now the only thinks that never disappear are things like bracelets and necklaces and things like that."

"Do you feel them on you when you change?"

"Necklaces I do, bracelets, no, but I've got this anklet that I feel no matter what, but there is something weird about it."
