My brain screams to run from the trio as I gaze at them. I can hear the pattering of the boys feet coming towards Eli and I before I feel the tiny hands grasp mine.
The biggest of the three is standing in front, dressed in all black leather with a bandana wrapped around his mouth, making him look like a sandy haired cowboy.
The one of his right is a white haired girl covered in blood and barely standing. She has shackles on her wrists and ankles, a star mark right below her eye, and a moon pendant dangling from her neck.
The last one on his left is a boy looking similarly to the girl. White hair, pale, bloody, and bruised. Shackles around his wrists and ankles, a moon under the eye instead of a star, and a star pendant instead of a moon.
My breath catches in my throat as I realize theboy and girl are witches. Twin witches from a powerful coven.
"Celeste?" The girl squeaks out, "I-Is that you?"
"Shut up, witch," the man barks as he snaps the shackles down like a whip.
The girl falls to her knees whimpering.
"Oh my god! Eleanor!" I gasp and make a move forward towards them.
"Celeste? Who are they?"
"They are the twin leaders of the most powerful cpvrn on the east coast, Eli. Erik and Eleanor and they need our help."
"Wait? But who is he?" he motions to the man.
"He is a hunter. He is using some kind of cloaking charm to keep others from seeing them."
"How can we see them then?"
"I don't know. But we to do do something. Boys. Stay here."
I gently pull away from the boys and start sprinting towards the hunter. I take a leap, changing mid air, landing on all four feet, and continuing on towards him with my teeth bared and a snarl escaping my throat.
The hunter turns his face towards us, and I can see a twinge of fear illuminated in his eyes. He reaches back a pulls out what appears to be just the handle of a whip and flings it forward at me. Fire rips through the air out of it and grazes close to me before slamming into the ground.
"Celeste!" Eli shouts from close behind me. "Be careful!"
I ignore his plead and continue on ahead, lunging at the hunter and knocking him to the ground. Eleanor and Erik get pulled along with him, and their painful gasps can be heard through the air.
I jump on top of the hunter, my teeth grip his neck as I feel a hand against my fur.
"Easy now," Eli says in my ear. "We need him to answer some questions."
I turn back to a human and sit on his chest, pinning this arms down beside his head.
"Did you have anything to do the fire at the daycare?" Eli asks.
"Daycare?" the hunter groans from beneath the bandana, "What daycare? I don't know nothing about no daycare. I don't hunter mutts. Purebred witches are more of a hunt than you disgusting creatures."
"Witch hunter?" I snarl. "You call me disgusting?"
"Your tribe breeds with its own siblings to make sure that little dog gene stays with your family. I have no use for trying to snuff it out. Now get off me."
"No," I spit on his face before raising my arm up, claws growing out, and slashing down on his throat. "Not until you can no longer hurt my friends, pig."
