I wake up to the sound of my phone buzzing. I look at the screen which says ‘Thirty unread messages from: Nate :)’
Are you kidding me! That kid will be lucky if I ever acknowledge his existence ever again. If he expects me to answer, he’s delusional.
I scrolled through the messages and spot and unknown number towards the bottom. I click on the message hesitantly, afraid to see if Nathan had actually used a different phone.
Unknown: Hey, its Cameron and I was wondering if you’re doin anything 2morrow :)
I sit there, stunned. Not only did the most incredible guy in the world have my number, but he actually used it to ask me out on a date! I look at when it was sent and flip out. It had been almost twenty hours since he had texted me. I reply hastily and pray he hasn’t made other plans.
Almost as quick as I replied my phone buzzes again.
Unknown:Gr8! Does dinner and a movie sound good 2 u?
Andi: Yeah that sounds pretty good 2 me :)
Unknown: Gr8, want me 2 pick u up @ ur house?
Andi: Sure, but I warn u, my house is extremely... boring lol, my mom won’t even notice me leaving.
Unknown: Lol ok i’ll b there around say 5?
Andi: that’s fine. c u then :)
Unknown: ok :) hey i gtg, dad’s makin me practice... AGAIN. C u l8er
Andi: Ok, bye
As soon as I sent my message, I go and enter Cam’s number into my phone.
As soon as I put the last letter in I feel like I have just started the biggest event of my life.

“Bye Mom,” I say as I head out the door.
“Wait!” I turn around, smiling because she finally seems to care.
“Of course. You’re probably wondering where I’m going. Well Cam asked me if I wan-”
“Oh no honey I was just wondering, since you’re up, if you could get me a blanket from the hallway closet. It’s a bit chilly.”
I can’t believe her. She can’t even care long enough to at least meetCameron. I go and get the scratchiest blanket I can find and throw it in her lap.
“Now is that any way to treat your mother?” she asks
I just stand there with my mouth open, not believing she actually just said that. I run outside and slam the door behind me. Through my tears I see a car pull up in the driveway. I wave at Cam meekly as he walks up the steps.
“Let’s go,” I say, wiping away any tears I missed.
“Shouldn’t I go in and talk to your mom first?” he asks.
“Trust me, she could care less about who I’m with. Just make sure you have me back within 36 hours.”
I smile sadly as we walk toward his car. He opens my door and as I get in he asks,”You okay, Andi?”
“Never been better, why?”
“You say you’re fine but I see a different story in your eyes.” He returns my sad smile and closes my door.
“So what’s for dinner?” I ask after we get on the road.
“Well that all depends on what kind of girl your are. Do you count calories at every meal? Are you a vegan? Do you...”
