Louis' POV

The only thing to do was wait. She was lying there, tubes sticking from various places in her body, bandages wrapped over her wounds. The bruising was almost at its peak, turning her delicate, beautiful skin a horrible shade of black and purple.

Liam stayed with me most of the time. I had only told him everything that had happened, seeing as the other boys weren't at the summer home yet.

What attracted me to her? Was it the way she treated me? I wasn't used to being ignored by girls. They practically threw themselves at me. But she wanted nothing to do with me.

I was sitting outside of her room one day, when I felt something weird. Like a wind passed by. But I was in a hallway with no windows. I was just imagining things.

Alyssa's POV

I've watched him the past week or so. He always visits for a few hours each day. Why would he keep coming? He doesn't know me. I'm broken. I'm worthless.

I want to die.

Every day, the light I reached for faded more and more. I was pulled closer to a darkness. The darkness was life. It was a form of sleep, and I knew I would wake up as soon as the brilliant light disappeared.

It finally did. I'm guessing it was about two weeks before I opened my crust filled eyes.

I brought my hand to my face, careful not to hurt myself, and wiped them, a clear picture of the room coming into view.

Louis was sitting in an arm chair, staring out of the window.

"Why are you here?" I asked him, my voice sounding gravelly and rough.

He stood up and walked to my bedside, grabbing a glass of water from the bedside table, and tipping it towards my mouth. I gratefully accepted this gesture, seeing as I can barely talk.

"Why-" I started to ask again but he cut me off.

"I saw you being attacked. I saved you. I couldn't just leave without knowing." he answered as he went to sit back down.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Your father is in jail and your sister is missing." he said, knowing exactly what I was going to say. He seemed deep in thought, so I let him be. I laid my head back, and let myself drift into the dreamless void known as sleep.

I woke up to a doctor fiddling with the needle sticking out of my arm. He took it out, along with the other three that were sticking from various veins in my body. I noticed Louis was looking at me as the doctor did this.

"You may leave after filling out the paperwork" the doctor said before exiting the room.

"I have nowhere to go" I said out loud, voicing my biggest concern.

Louis came to my bedside, taking my hand in his, and gently kissing the bruise that had formed on it.

"I already talked to the other boys, and we would be delighted for you to stay with us" he said. I nodded my head, trying to sit up.

Pain erupted from my abdomen, making it hard to breath. Louis noticed and helped me sit up the rest of the way, laying a hand on my back to support me.

"Thanks" I said, swinging my legs over the side of the bed. Louis turned around, his hand still supporting me, and handed me some folded up clothes. The same I was wearing when it happened.

"We washed and cleaned them." he said before helping me stand and walking me to the bathroom.

I stood in the bathroom, changing and leaning on the handrail for support. As started to put my shirt on, I couldn't help but look at the condition of my skin. My whole stomach had turned an ugly purple color. I pulled my shirt over my body, stepping out of the bathroom.

I went to fill out all the papers, Louis following me and leading me to his car when I was finished.
