In The Maze

Chapter 5

   I barely slept last night. Neither did Newt. Neither did half the Shucking Glade. Rosalind doesn't sleep through the night yet. I would put her down for the night and 10 minutes later she would need a diaper change. I change her diaper and put her down again. 15 minutes later she's hungry. Newt feeds her and puts her down. 5 minutes later she just cried because she wants to be held. Newt and I take turns walking back and forth holding her. Finally I lie down and put Rosalind stomach down on my chest and we sleep...

Newt's POV:
I wake up to see Emalee clutching Rosalind to her chest. I don't have the heart to wake her up. We both only slept about an hour and a half last night. I walk over to Alby and tell him that Em and I will take the week off, and not to wake us up. He nods, seeing the dark circles under my eyes. I thank him and go back To Em and Rosalind. I see Rosalind starting to wake up, so I gently free her from Em's grip. I rock Rosalind in my arms and she quickly falls asleep again. I crawl back into my sleeping bag and place Rosalind on my chest. That's the last thing I remember before I drift off.
