The following morning was hellish. Shay didn't need to get up so I left her sleeping, still fully clothed from the previous night. I couldn't help but smile as I looked at her. Her long lashes were fanned out over her cheeks and a strand of hair was flowing up and down with the air coming from her soft breaths. She looked beautiful and serene and I almost got on the phone straight away to call in sick just so I could lie there and watch her all day but things were hectic at work and I was needed.
I looked a mess as I pulled in to the car park. My hair didn't want to stay put today and I hadn't had time to iron my sweater vest. I quickly licked my fingers and tried to adjust my hair in the mirror. It did no good and i gave up, climbing out of the car with my briefcase. I made my way in to the building and was surprised when Veronica gave me a confused look. I had no time to ask her what was up before Harvey bustled out of the office and asked her for coffee.
"Marcel why are you still hanging around? Wait did you get changed?"
Changed? What the heck was he talking about?
"Shame I thought you kind of suited the new look."
He turned and walked back into the office, shutting the door before i could ask what he was talking about.
I shook my head and breathed in. Okay that had been an odd start to the day but I needed to stay focused. I had so many stylists coming in with ideas for one directions movie. I needed to get on with things. I made my way into my own office, backwards as I juggled the mail left by the door and my briefcase. I dumped the mail on the sofa as I entered my office and then turned around.
I almost screamed. I had no been expecting my office to be occupied but my chair was turned away from the desk, back to me and I could make out someones hand, clutching a glass of whisky, draped casually over the arm.
I frowned and gulped.
"Um I'm sorry but I think you have the wrong office."
The chair spun round and a familiar face grinned back at me.
"Actually I'm pretty sure I don't," Edward replied.
"Ed?" My case clattered to the floor as my jaw fell open.
Edward stood up and strolled towards me. His arms wrapped me in a deadly tight hug before he pulled away and smiled again.
"What are you-?" I gasped.
"What can't a guy come visit his brother?"
"Wait a minute," I murmured, realising something, "You pretended to be me didn't you? That's what Harvey was talking about!"
"Busted!" he laughed.
I shook my head, exasperated. Edward clearly hadn't changed.
"Oh come on bro it was just a joke. Chill out yeah?" He smiled, patting me on the shoulder as he took a swig of his whiskey.
I lifted my glasses and wiped my eyes slightly before readjusting them. I was about to ask what he was doing in town when the door opened and Veronica sauntered in.
She looked up and immediatley her eyes widened.
"What-?"
Edward strolled forward, hand outstretched.
"Hi I believe an introductions in order. We met at the reception. I'm Ed!"
Veronica stared at me as she shook his hand, completely perplexed. Then she turned her attention back to Edward.
"I'm sorry," she blushed, "Marcel never mentioned that he was a twin."
"Oh well actually he's more than-"
