Here's a recap from the last chapter :

I start running away and get to the top of the water slide. He comes up pretty close and yells, "That's not fair!" I yell back, "Life's not fair!" I'm sitting with my back to the slide, with my legs dangling over the stairs. I realize the bad idea when a bird flies a bit too close to me and I fall backwards. I hit my head against the slide and gasp. The water from the slide makes my body slide down the slide instead of me falling off the edge. I scream of course and try to grab the edges with my hands, but fail. I hear Colton screaming my name and the I slide into the pool. The impact takes my breath away and I'm underwater. I can't breathe and my eyes are closed because the salt water stings. Everything is bright then somehow, everything goes dark.

I feel familiar arms holding me close and a familiar voice. I try to open my eyes but my eyelids are too heavy. I just want to go into a deep sleep. NO! Wake up Sage! WAKE UP! I try my eyes again and get them only to a quarter way open. More! Try harder! I open them half-way then groan. My head rolls to the side and I hear Colton say one sentence, "Please wake up baby." I force my eyes open and groan again. Colton sighs and says, "She's awake!" I look around my surroundings and see that we are in my bedroom. I'm laying on Colton's lap and I hear ringing. Colton bends over and kisses me. I smile and groan again. "My head hurts a lot." I mumble. Victoria and Nick come running through my bedroom door with my family. I wince at light because it's way too bright and how noisy they are. My mom comes over and checks my eyes. She sighs and says, "She's not responding." She asks, "What do you feel like right now sweetheart?" "My head is pounding, the light is too bright, I keep hearing ringing sounds, and I want to throw up." My mom frowns and says, "We need to bring her to the hospital to get her checked Henry." My dad nods and walks out to call the hospital. Colton sits me up slowly then picks me up bridal style. My siblings hug me before I leave and so do my friends. I tell Colton to wait and say, "You guys go use the water balloons. Go have fun. They shouldn't be wasted." Victoria nods and tells my siblings what I was talking about. They all leave to change and Colton carries me downstairs. He sets me on the couch, grabs shorts and a tee, flip flops, a hat, and sunglasses and helps me put everything on. He picks me up again and my parents lead us out to the car to go to the hospital.

When we get there, we have to wait an hour before I can see someone in the emergency room. Since there's not that many seats, I'm sitting on Colton's lap while my mom is in the seat next to me and my dad is standing up. I keep falling asleep but every time I have Colton nudge so I stay awake. After an hour of trying to keep my eyes open and staring at the white wall in front of me, I can finally see a doctor. Colton helps me up and my mom walks back there with me. We get to this little room where I have to sit on the hospital bed and I immediately pull my knees to my chest. I hate, I repeat hate small hospital rooms. My mom holds my hand and gives it a little squeeze, knowing about my little disagreement. The doctor comes in two minutes later and asks how I feel on a scale of one to ten, what I feel like, where my head hurts, if I remember anything, etc. I answer saying, "My head is pounding, the light is too bright, I keep hearing ringing sounds, and I want to throw up, in the back, no, " etc. We have to get a cat scan (which I also don't like) and then we have to go into another waiting room to wait for the results.

The results come in ten minutes and it shows that I have a concussion. They give me some medicine, a few notes on what to do, and a sheet of the results. We leave, get what we need from the grocery store, then head home. After calmly arguing with Colton about him going home, I give up. Victoria and Nick already left, but have been texting Colton to talk to me because I can't stand my phone's bright screen. It's dark in my room and Colton stays in there with me the entire time. I call him my nurse and he does everything I ask him to. After two hours of talking, drinking water and powerade, eating soup, and talking some more, I finally get to sleep. Colton of course asks my parents if he could sleep with me and of course they let him because they love him so much.....but not as much as I do. He wraps his arms around me and I quickly fall asleep into the warm embrace of his arms.
