Liara.

I fell on the floor. It felt like someone had zapped me and made me land somewhere else. I glanced around but all I could see was a room. A very well decorated room. It had paintings all around, rich furnishing and it was hot pink. And I was sprawled right in front of the fire.

“Hello, Liara.” Someone said in a tingling voice and I whipped around.

It was a woman. An extremely beautiful woman. She had rich blonde hair and she was wearing a dark purple gown and had a huge diamond necklace dangling on her neck. And then I saw her eyes and they were the deepest red.

“Yes, I am Gabriel.” She chimed again and my eyes widened. Danny had said I would see their true face but Gabriel looked normal.

“That is because I am an archangel, Liara.” She answered my thought with amusement. I stared in shock. She could ..

“I can read your mind, yes.” She answered in her shimmering voice and I gulped.

She knew. She knew what and who I was. She knew.

“Yes. I know. And I am delighted to meet you in person.” She giggled down at me and I got stood up, hastily.

“You know, it is funny now when I look at you that my people can even think that YOU can stop me.” She said and then she gave a hearty laugh.

“An adolescent like you trying to stop me! It is just hilarious! Imagine them thinking that you can make me lose when even your father who was supposedly ‘above me’ died at my hands.” She finished softly and rage went through me, I took a step forward and her eyes twinkled.

“Do not say anything about my father.” I all but growled down at her and she threw back her head and laughed.

“You are his daughter, indeed. You have the arrogance, the sheer arrogance, to stand in front of me and take that mighty tone with me and darling, that’s the stupidest thing you could have done.” She finished in her soft tone again and I opened my mouth to retort when she raised her hand and pain whipped through me. I fell back on the floor and writhed in pain but it wouldn’t stop. It felt like people were ripping off my skin. I could hear her laughing down at me and swinging her hands to cause more pain but I couldn’t do anything, I just screamed and screamed as my blood drenched me.

And then I heard it. I heard Danny shout my name and with a lot of effort I bought my shivering hand up to my amulet and closed my eyes shut and saw my father’s face smiling at me. And suddenly Gabriel wasn’t laughing anymore but she gasped and the pain stopped. I opened my eyes and looked at her and saw her shock and for a fleeting moment I thought she was scared but then she straightened and raised her hands again.

But nothing happened. I got to my feet shakily and walked up to her.

“Not much you can do now, huh.” I whispered at her and she flicked her hands again and again growing furious by the minute.

“Oh, you daft creature you think your stupid amulet can save you from me, don’t you? But, I’ll kill you. I’ll kill you just like I killed your father!” she screamed and before she could do anything else, I punched her right in her face, hard.

She staggered backwards and fell over the chair. I looked around frantically, searching for some way to get out of here and all the while I was hearing Danny call my name. And then I saw the window. It had a black mist curling around in a circle and sparks were flying out of it, I was sure that was where she had transported me from but it was growing smaller, I ran towards it and just before I could touch it someone pulled my hair and yanked me back.

“Tell me where the amulet it!” she growled and tightened the hold on my hair, I winced but tried to kick her away from me.

“TELL ME!” she shouted again and this time I kicked her really hard and her hand slipped revealing my amulet. She made a grab for it but I touched it before she could and suddenly a white light came out of it, the light grew in its intensity and took a form, a human form, and Gabriel fell back on her hunches. She was shouting at me, telling me to stop it but I just couldn’t, I lay there utterly shocked, listening to Gabriel shout and looking at the human form grow larger and larger.

“LIARA, JUMP!” I heard a voice over her shouts and I looked back at the circle, it was small but I closed my eyes and made a run for it.

“Liara!” And the next thing I heard was Danny exclaim my name.

“Oh my god, Danny, I met her.” I whispered and Danny slumped back against the wall.

“They know.” He only said these two words but I knew what he meant. Gabriel knew what I was and she wanted me, bad.

“What will we do?” I whispered and Danny looked miserable again.

“Nothing. WE can’t do anything, Liara.” He said, resigned and I heard the pain in his voice.

“But Danny she needs to be stopped.” I said and he gave me a dark look.

“I know that better than you Liara but I can’t do anything, dammit! I saw you go through the black hole without doing anything and she’s powerful! She’s an archangel, Liara!” he shouted the last word at me like I didn’t understand when he first told me the same thing.

“I know! But there has to be some way to destroy her? Or kill her? She killed my father, Daniel!” I shouted back and a glazed look took over his face.

“I can’t help you.” He muttered ad fell on the bed.

“YES, YOU CAN, DAMN YOU!” I shouted at him but he just shook his head, he looked defeated. Lost.

It felt like he was fading, like he was giving up on hope, like he was giving up on ME.

“Don’t you give up on me, Daniel! Don’t you give up on me, now.” I shouted at him again and shook him but he didn’t reply, he just gave me a blank look and tears filled my eyes.

“NO, DANIEL, NO!” I shouted again and my face fell on his shoulder and I started crying. My hands dug into his shirt as if to physically hold him by me.

“You .. can’t..” I hiccupped and he was limp, just limp, his hands limp by his side and still unmoving.

“I won’t let you, dammit.” I said and this time I took his face in my hands and looked him right in the eye.

“You can help me, Daniel. Only you can. I have no one else. I just have you. Only you. And I have faith in you. My father had faith in you. ” I whispered and after a long moment his features changed and he closed his eyes.

“Oh god, Liara.” He grunted and he hugged me.

“I’m sorry, Lee.” He whispered and nuzzled his face in my hair.

“Don’t ever do this to me again, dammit.” I said fiercely and Danny’s hold on me tightened.

“I can’t bear it, Lee. I saw you go through the black hole and I couldn’t do anything. I’m just a layman to you now, Lee. What if something happens to you and I can’t do anything to save you?” he whispered and I shook him again.

“Now you listen to me. Whatever happened to you, happened because of me, it happened because I touched you so I’m responsible for this whole sorry mess, Danny! And how do you think I feel when you go around rubbing the fact that you’re not YOU anymore home?! Awful, that’s how. And so if something happens to me, I bloody well deserve it!” I finished and Danny just gave me one of those looks.

“Shut up.” He said and after looked at him stunned, I burst out laughing.

“Oh, Danny!” I said, happily, for the first time after what felt like ages and hugged him again.

“We’ll find a way, dude. We will.” I said and when I saw the slight smile on his face, I knew that we will.
