Chapter 3

"what the hell? please tell me their lieing! Liam wouldn't go for a slut bag like that thing!" Colton screamed pointing to the woman standing with Liam in the picture.

"he's a celebrity, what do you expect colt!" I said slapping his arm

"I just thought he was different ya know? I like sensitive guys, like Liam. I didn't think he would go for those kinds of girls." Danielle said flidding with her fingers.

"Yeah but you don't know if Liam is actually going out with her. The media is retarted." I said patting her back.

"I guess your right." she said

"you guess?! I'm Carter freaking Burns! of course I'm right!" I thought about what I just said for a second. I'm not Sydney Burns. I don't even know what my real last name is.

"or at least I thought I was Carter Burns..." I felt a tear trickle down my face. Colton wiped my tears away with his ruff thumb and moved my head to face him.

"will find your parents alright?" He said in a loving tone

I nodded and laid down on Danielle's bed. what if my parents still don't like me? what if they think I'm ugly? what if they don't what me? all these questions swarmed around my head.

the annoying high pitched sound of my alarm clock was ringing straight in my ear. I groaned and shook Danielle awake but knowing her she went back to sleep. I walked over to my suitcase and picked out black leggings and a purple galaxy tanktop that ties in the front. I walked my stuff to the bathroom and turned on the shower. I slipped out of my clothes and stepped in to the steaming hot shower. once I was done, I dressed myself and brushed my hair. I put anti frizz gel in my red curls to make them not get so crazy. I brushed my teeth for like 10 minutes because my braces were hard to handle today. did I forget to mention I have braces? well now you know! I put on foundation and mascara because I wasn't going to empress anyone today.

I walked out of the bathroom to find Danielle dressed and ready to go. thank god.

"wanna go out to breakfest with Colton?" Danielle asked tapping her nails on the back on her phone.

"ah yeah sure what time is it?" I asked

"10:30."

"Yeah alright I'll go."

we hopped in Danielle's bright red jeep and headed to meet Colton. I turned on the radio and I heard the music start playing for What Makes You Beautiful. I looked over at Danielle to already find she was looking at me with a creepy grin on her face. we belted the lyrics for the rest of the ride and we found ourselves in the parking lot. we walked in the restaurant and we looked around to find Colton. we found him all the way in the far back with a huge black booth.

"Why did you get such a huge booth?" I asked taking a seat across from Danielle and Colton.

"I don't know. give us privacy from other people." He said looking over the menu

I nodded and a lady with dark brown hair came over to us

"May I take your order?" her southern accent rang through our ears. she all took our orders and gave us our drinks.

"are you nervous?" Danielle asked taking a sip of her Orange Juice

"Yeah, but I'm also sorta excited at the same time."

during the whole rest of breakfest it was dead silent. Colton paid the bill even though we tried to pay ourselves.

"let me know how it goes alright?" Colton said. I nodded and hugged him. I jumped in my car and started following Danielle to the adoption center.

I was a nervous wreck. I was shaking so bad, my car was going all over the road. I got a few beeps and popping of fingers but I didn't care. I was gonna find out who my parents were today.

I met Danielle at the door and we walked into a decent sized building. we walked up to the front desk where a actually really pretty girl was there typing away at her computer.

"hi! how May I help you?" the lady squeaked

"erm we have an appointment with.... ah... she never gave us her name actually." I said rubbing the back of my neck.

the lady laughed "that's quite alright. what's your name?"

"Carter Burns."

"yes. 2:00 appointment right here. I'll led you to the room. right this way." she said

the lady stood up and led us to a long hallway. it felt like we were walking for forever until the lady stopped walking and led us into a huge room. there was a lady sitting at her desk with blonde hair.

"hey girls! you must be Carter and Danielle! I'm Jessica, the woman you were talking to on the phone the other day." she stook her hand out and shaked our hands. "please have a seat."

"now, Carter, I was taking a look through your file right before you came here and I was able to find your parents." Jessica said opening my file

"alright.." I said nodding my head

"there's only your mother's name, but not your father's name. So I'm guessing your mother dropped you off here 17 years ago. Her name is Anne and as of right now she lives in Cheshire,England." she said

"England?" I choked

Jessica nodded and sat back in her chair

"I want to meet her." I said

" if that's what you truly want now dear."

"that's defiantly what I want." I said grabbing Danielle's hand

Jessica wrote down my mother's address on a piece of paper and handed it to me.

"that also has my cell phone number just in case you have any problems." Jessica said

"thank you so much Jessica!" I said as me and Danielle stood up and we both hugged her and walked out of the building.

we both stared at each other for a while. her icy blue eyes staring into my dull brown ones.

"thank you so much for your support in finding my parents and what not. I'm grateful I have a best friend like you. I love you Dani." I said pulling her into a tight hug

"I love you too Car." she choked out "I'll see you at the house alright?"

I nodded as we made our separate ways to our cars. I sat in the driver's seat in silence thinking about what happened moments ago, when the vibration of my phone interrupted me.

"Carter, I can't believe you did that. stomped off like a little four year old?! My family supported you for almost all your life and now you treat them like shit when you find out your adopted?! My parents could have picked another child and left you to rot in that adoption center, but they didn't. they picked you to care and love for. you were gonna find out someday that you were adopted! if you think your gonna get far in life with that attitude, then your obviously oblivious. also don't even think of coming back to this house. you cause us too much pain in the last couple of days. I hope you got what you wanted. we don't want you anymore. Good luck."

I was shocked. Aubrey is always so innocent and nice to others. I mean yeah I guess I was wrong for stomping out like that, but wouldn't you if you were told that your life was all a lie? I'll show Aubrey that I can get far in life without them. I'll make her regret she even send me that text message. I'm now her worst nightmare.
