CHAPTER 4The next morning I went to the mall. I had to get the perfect outfit, and I didn't have one. I went into my closet and got the polka dotted box that holds all the money I have. I took out $100.
So much for saving for a new computer.
But this was SO much more important. I walk to the mall, and on my way there I was thinking about him.
Him!
He's so amazing, I could scream! He's the perfect one for me, I just know it. And I won't let anything ever separate us again. Ever.
I get to the mall and start walking around. I pass by many stores, but none of them have the right thing. I'm looking for something blue, his favorite color. I love blue, but I also like green as well. Maybe I could find a blue and green dress somewhere.
That's when I see it.
There in the window, the perfect dress.
Its light blue, and it fades to navy. In the middle there's a bright golden bow.
When I go in, I ask the lady where the rest are. She points me to the back corner. I look through the sizes, and I find the right one. It's the last one, and I'm really glad. Any second later and someone could have...
"Excuse me, that's mine."
I turn around to see an old friend.
Macy.
Macy is the most popular girl at my school, everyone loves her. Everyone except me.
She's on cheer team, and she does softball. She's been out with half of the guys in my school, and she's super annoying. We used to be best friends when we were little, but when she tried out for cheer in 3rd grade, we sorta split. But since she was my best friend, how could I forget?
We are exactly the same size.
"Oh, Christina Hi!! It's been so long since I've seen you!"
"Hi Macy." I say out of annoyance.
"Well I've gotta say, I didn't think you had good fashion taste, but it appears you do! I just love love love this dress, don't you? Too bad there's only one in our size, I guess you'll have to find another dress instead."
"Macy, I was here first."
"No hon. I was here first. I saw it first, so it's mine."
"Sorry Macy, I'm taking this one home. You can find yourself a different dress."
I'm not letting her win this one. This dress is mine. As I start to walk away, Macy grabs my hand. The one holding the dress.
"Oh Christina, you know I don't work that way," she glares at me.
She pulls on it, but I pull back.
"Macy, give it to me," I growl.
"I need this dress more than you! I'm actually going somewhere important," she pulls on it again.
"Like?!?" I realize that I'm clenching my teeth so hard, just to keep from screaming at her.
"A date. With my new boyfriend Jack."
"How funny? I'm going on a date too!"
She rolls her eyes. "You? On a date? Please, you couldn't get a guy even if you paid him."
I yank really hard, and she looses her grip.
"Well guess what? I did." I explain with so much confidence.
As I walk away, I turn to see if she's looking at me. And of course... She's following me.
I get to the register and pull out my money, but as I'm about to hand it over, Macy interrupts.
"Hey! You were the one that stole that from me! Give it back!"
The cashier looks at me funny. Macy tries to grab it, but I move it out of reach.
Then I look at the cashier and say,"I found it first, I swear. You can check the footage if you want. Please believe me, it's for my aunts wedding, and she found this in the store. She really loved it, and I wanted to surprise her with it. I won't see her for 10 years after the wedding! She's moving to Korea with her husband, and she won't be able to visit."
"I'll tell you what. You can have it." The cashier says.
"Really?"
"Why of corse! Weddings are very important." She smiles.
Macy looks depressed. She stamps out of the store and starts walking away.
I hand the money to the cashier, and she puts the dress in the bag.
"I hope the wedding goes well!" She says to me, as she hands the bag over the counter.
"Thanks!! Bye!!"
I almost can't believe what I just did. Macy? No one's ever taken away something she has wanted!
I guess I'm the first..
Now I'm even more excited for my date with Blake...
