Chapter 6: Little Bird

Once I left Cap's house, I just walked home. I really should get more exercise. As I walk home, I admire the scenery and think to my self I should do this more often. The trees over head. The smell of freshly cut grass filled the air, and then I saw the soft, green grass. There was a little bird there. I inched closer to it, but as it saw me, it flew away. I didn't think much if it. If I was that tiny thing, and I saw a big monster sneaking up on me, I would run too. I sat down on the grass. I decided to stay there for a while. As I look over, I see cars, stop lights, cement, big buildings, and someone smoking. Gee, this world really got messed up. I roll over to lay on my back. Just as I did, my phone rang. Great, that's gonna distract me from the nature...well half nature...all this man-made stuff. *ring ring* my phone goes on. Ugh-
"Hello"' I asked flatly. "Oh umm, I'll have to check in with my parents, but im still right here by your house, I just stopped by the street...where the fresh patch of grass is..." "ok, see you later...hopefully tonight"
"Oh, tomorrow? Ok, I'll come right after school. Yea, bye."
I hit the hang up button, and dialed another number.
"Hey mom, Cap just called me, one of my new friends I met today at school. She wants to know if we can have a sleepover."
Yeah, adult supervision will be provided."
"Uhh...yeah, a few boys will be there. I know mom. I won't do anything like that. There are PARENTS there."
"Yes mom, I'll come home first. It's not til tomorrow though.."
"Ok, see you later"
"Love you too" I hung up.
I started to get up, and then remembered where I was. I looked over my shoulder because I heard chipping. I saw the same little bird from before. I took out the last sandwich out that I had in my backpack. I took the wrapper off of it. The plastic crunching sound made the bird jump back. I put the rapper in my back pack. I ripped my sandwich in half and ate one of the halfs. After that, I ripped the other halfs in little pieces and fed them to the bird. After it was all gone, the bird looked like it was begging. I felt super bad. I just turned on my back and closed my eyes. After 10 seconds, I heard little crunches on the grass. I opened one eye just enough to see the little bird coming toward me and it layed down. It wasn't quite laying next to me, because it was probably a little un-sure, but I thought it was adorable. I layed there on my back awake, just thinking about the world...thinking about....anything and...everything
