The Things She Never Said

Prologue

  The rain pounds against the window. My candle is about to blow out. I'm shaking. I know he's out there. He's waiting till the light goes out. He laughs an evil, sinister laugh that makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. I move closer into my bed holding my blankets tight to my body. I cuddle into my sheets, hoping to hide and never be found. But, I know he will find me no matter how hard I try.

"Goodnight Taliana." He says with an evil grin. Then...everything...goes...dark...

I scream into the dark room.

"I hate you! Leave me alone! Jace, help me!" I yell for my brother whose asleep in the next room.

"Jace, please. Help me! I'm scared! Help me! Help me..." My voice dies off and I begin to sob uncontrollably.

"Tali-"the door knob jiggles. "Why is the door locked?! Taliana!" Jace screams slightly.

"Help me..." I whisper through all the tears. I hear a sudden crash and realize my brotheris kicking the door in.

"Hang on, Taliana. I'm coming!" He says.

He starts to creep towards me.

"He'll be too late." He says. I cower back in fear.

"Don't touch me! Just leave me alone!" I start to throw my pillows at him.

"Get out of here! You're not real! You can't be!" I scream at him.

"That's where you'e wrong, my puppet" He responds.

"No leave me alone!"

"Taliana, what's going on?!" Jace yells.

"Hurry Jace! He's scaring me!"

"Who is, Taliana? Work with me here, Tee. I need you to open up the door, remember they're not real. He's not real. None of this is. Get up and unlock the door." He says. I get up and start to unlock the door. I almost reach it but something grabs my ankle.

"Did you think you were gonna get away that easily? You were mistaken little girl!"

"Let me go! Please Jace help me!"

"That's it...." Bam! He broke the door down.

"Jace help, get him off me-"My voice trails off when i look back and see he's not there. No ones grabbing my ankle. It's just me. My rooms a mess. Pillows tossed about. Things broken, shattered. Everything in places it shouldn't be. And me, lying smack-dab in the middle of the floor, looking like an idiot.

"What the-? Taliana what happened here?!" Jace yells.

"He happened."

" Who is he?"

"The man from my nightmares" He shakes his head.

"Did you take your meds? All of them?"

"I don't remember. I think so. Maybe not. Yeah, that's probably it. I must have not taken them all." I say, trying to convince myself more then him.

"Okay Talie but you have to start taking them . The doctor said it takes wo weeks to kick in so you have to take them. And I don't have money to fix your door all the time."

"I know, I'm sorry, bro. Can I sleep in your room, again, tonight? i don't wanna be alone."

"Yeah, sure. Just try not to have a freak attack, 'kay?"

"Okay, thanks." I get up off the floor and walk towards him, giving him a hug.

"I love you, Jace. Forever and always?"

"Forever and always." He says.

"Let's go to sleep. I'm tired."

"Mhmm and we have school tomorrow." Yawn. My eyes start to tear up.

"Yeah, its way past your bed time, young lady."

I glare at him, or try to but it's hard because I can barely keep my eyes open. He guides me to the bottom bunk and pulls the covers back. I get into the bed and he puts the covers on top of me. He kisses me on my forehead and says goodnight but I'm already drifting off to sleep.

"Good..night..." I mumble, then I'm fast asleep.
