It was negative seven degrees and I was standing outside the back gate of a mansion with my moronic friends, donning masquerade masks and suits.

"Jude, this is insane, man, let's just go." I insisted only for my best friend to laugh and shove me back,

"Stop being a sissy, Romeo. You want your girl back? This is the way to do it! Chicks love romantic crap like this."

I eyed the tall gate skeptically, considering his words and, reluctantly, having to admit that he was right. If I was going to convince Gabi to come back to me I would have to prove to her that I would do anything for her.

I rubbed my eyes through the eyeholes in the stupid mask,

"Dad, is going to kill me if he finds out I crashed a party at the damn Capulets' estate." I muttered watching Percy step up first and climb up the gate.

"Tell you what," Jude started, slapping me on the back, "Forget about that girl and we can call it a night. We can turn around right now and go find some chicks who will make your swan look like a pterodactyl."

"Seriously?!" Percy yelled down from where he was straddling the gate already, "You say that now?!"

I laughed at him and shook my head,

"No one can compare to Gabi, let's go,"

I made my descent up the gate, swinging my legs over the top and jumping down after Percy, Ben and Jude plopping down beside me.

I straightened out my suit and readjusted the stupid itchy mask as we made our way towards the mansion that was completely lit up and pumping out classical music.

I smiled at that, knowing this was Gabi's perfect scene. She always liked these stuffy charity events.

The security guard didn't even flinch as we made our way inside. I scanned the masked faces of the guests, hoping for a glimpse of the dark haired beauty I was ready to confess my undying love to.

I nodded to the boys, indicating for them to see if they could find her and report back to me.

I stayed in the margins of the ballroom, close to the pillars and fairly hidden from the guests. The last thing I needed was for Mr. Capulet to find out I was here and accuse me of something ridiculous, like wanting to somehow steal his business partners. My family, the Montagues, had been in a rivalry with his family for as long as any of us could remember, but unsure of what the reason for it was in the first place.

I stopped in my tracks when my hand brushed over skin where a pillar was supposed to be. I turned slowly towards the person and my breath caught in my throat.

Bright blue eyes were hidden behind an emerald mask, rivulets of soft golden curls fell over her shoulders, cascading down her back and over her matching emerald green dress that hugged her slim body just right.

Her eyes darted between my face and my hand that was still resting over hers.

Say something, you idiot!

She cleared her throat and stared pointedly at our hands,

"You go around touching the hands of strangers often?"

Well, damn. Her voice was strong and sensual at the same time, washing over me and making my heart beat faster.

"I...uh....I don't...I mean," I stuttered, shutting up before I made an even bigger fool of myself.

She smiled and took a step closer to me,

"I see, so that's a no then?"

I cleared my throat, pulling myself together and taking a step closer to her too,

"What's an angel like you doing hiding in the shadows?" What the hell, Romeo?! Where the hell did that cheesy line come from?!

She smiled, those bright sapphire eyes glancing down shyly before trapping me in her gaze again. I was already a goner, there was no denying that.

"I wouldn't want these mere mortals to be dazzled by my angelic aura," She said, smirking.

She was playing along, yes!!

"Well, this mere mortal is completely dazzled by you," I moved closer to her and she reciprocated until our lips were inches apart.

I brushed my lips gently across hers, hoping with everything I had that she wouldn't pull away and slap me for being so forward.

I nearly fainted in relief when she smiled against my lips and kissed me gently.

If I hadn't been a goner before, I was completely gone now. Her lips felt like they were made for mine as we moved together.

I entwined the fingers of our hands that were still resting against the pillar, wrapping my free arm around her and pulling her body flush against mine. She smiled into the kiss and pulled away leaving me bereft at the loss of contact from this girl who had me weak at the knees from just one kiss.

"Those were hardly the actions of an angel," She whispered and I smiled, resting my forehead against hers.

"Then you're my kind of angel,"

I went in for another kiss when I was suddenly yanked back by the scruff of my neck,

"Romeo, we gotta go, they figured out who we are, come on!" Ben urged, pulling me back, but I couldn't leave, not yet.

I turned to look at her. Her expression had changed to one of mortification,

"Angel, what's your name?" I called out to her urgently,

"Juliet. Juliet Capulet," She said so softly that I thought I had misheard her. I honestly hoped I had misheard her. She just couldn't be...

Jude joined Ben in tugging me out and we stumbled through the vast doors leading outside. We scrambled over the gate we had come over from and ran for cover from the security guards chasing us.

I yanked Ben and Jude into the coverage of a shrubbery. Jude grabbed Percy by his jacket and yanked him beside us. We flattened ourselves until the security team had passed us.

We remained quiet for a while before bursting out in laughter. Adrenaline pumping through our veins at the chase we all loved.

I yanked off the stupid mask and threw it down, heading back to the mansion, set on seeing Juliet again.

"Dude, Gabi isn't worth getting punched in the face by your dad," Percy insisted, following me,

"Gabi who?" I asked, laughing at the shock on their faces.

"You're telling me we went through all of that for no reason?!" Percy yelled incredulously.

I laughed and threw an arm around him, smiling up at the mansion where I knew an angel in green was currently residing,

"We went through all that, my friend, for the most amazing girl I have ever met,"

"So, not Gabi then?" Jude asked, quirking an eyebrow,

"Nah, for Juliet," I smiled up at the mansion. I would see her again, and I would see her again tonight no matter what the consequences.

The small amount of time I was with her made it clear to me that I had to have her. She enchanted me like no one had ever been able to, she would be mine. I would chase away any doubts she might possibly have about being with a Montague.

"Ah, hell," Jude muttered from beside me, "I know that look, the man's already whipped. Come on boys, we'll take care of the guards while lover boy gets himself disowned."

I smiled over at my friends and headed back towards the mansion. Back to my angel, my Juliet.
