I know it's been awhile and I'm sorry! But I'm back now and ready to write. The story is in Pilot's P.O.V unless stated otherwise. This isn't edited so there may be mistakes! Enjoy xxx

Chapter 5

The rest of the day passed quickly and without incident. The new kid, who I know know to be named Nicolas or 'Nico' was in my Science and History class. The whole class broke out in whispers and excited chatters. The girls started to fluff their hair and sit up straighter. It was all I could do not to roll my eyes hit their heads together. Nico took in all in his stride and seemed to bask in the attention.

Chloe was beyond herself when I told her as she didn't have any classes with him, "You have to talk to him!" She insists as we make our outside at the end of the school day.

I surpress the urge to roll my eyes "He's bad news Chlo. I mean. he's already got half the girls wrapped aroung his pinky finger, and it's only been one day!"

She huffs and pouts at me but knows I'm not going to change my mind. We say good bye and head off home.

I start the walk home and, true to my luck a light rain starts. I curse myself for not bringing my jacket with a hood or an umbrella. I pick up my pace. The rain seems to sense my haste and subsequently starts a more insistent down pour. I jog down the street and push the lank, wet hair out of my eyes, cusing all the while.

The low purr of an engine comes from somewhere behind me and I puff up my cheeks in my irritation. Just as I'm contemplating wether or not to taker shelter in the insurance office when a sleek black  BMW rolls to a stop beside me.

"Hey!" A slightly familar voice calls out "You need a ride?"

I squint and peer  more closely at the car. After a few moments I recognise the driver as the new kid, Nico. He has the window rolled down and is looking at me with a raised eyebrow.

"You getting in, or what?" he asks in an impatient voice.

I hesitate for a second before rushing over to the passenger side and scrambling inside. I park my butt on the soft leather seat and settle in. He starts the car and I turn in my seat to look at him.

His brown hair is ruffled and soft looking and the colour of deep mahogany. His eyelashes are long and black and cast shadows on his face. He catches me looking and turns to grin at me. His bright blue eyes twinkle and appraise me.

"You look like a drowned rat." he announces with a smirk.

My hands goes unconsciously up to hair and I glare at him. As if I wasn't self-conscious enough sitting next to a greek god. I shift uncomfortably in my seat and clear my throat.

"Ehm....thanks for the ride." I manage to get out. Damn he's so good-looking.

He laughs "Well, you looked kind off pathetic standing out there in the rain looking like you just crawled out of a sewer." He turns to study me "You're in my History class right?"

I nod "And science."

"And your name is......"

"Pilot" I respond and look out the windshield "Take a left here." I tell him and he does.

The car laspes into silence and I take the oppurtunity to have a good gawk around. His car is nearly spotless and still has that new car smell with a hint of lemon car refresher. The seats are black Italian leather and cool to the touch. A few cds slide around under my feet along with a kit-kat wrapper.

I glance out the window and tell him to stop. He rolls the car to a stop outside my little cottage. I glance over at him and see him looking intenlt at the house. I begin to wonder what he's thinking when he turns to look at me.

"This is where you live."

Even though it's a statement and not a question, I bob my head "Yup. Me and my mom." I sit there awkwardly for a minute before grabbing my bag and the door handle "Thanks for the ride."

He nods, still looking thoughtfully at my house. I jump out and dash through the light persistent drizzle. I turn back to see Nico reverse and drive away. I open the door and head into the nice cozy, warm house. I throw down my bag and head upstairs. I strip off my clothes and hop into the shower. The warm water twaing out my frozen bones.

I spend the rest of the evening doing homework and helping out mom with her new project. I go to bed thinking about the odd look in Nico's eyes as he gazed at my house. If I didn't know better I'd say it was a look of longing.

I woke the next morning to the sound of rain hitting the window. I groan and snuggle closer to my duvet. Just because I'm used to the rain, doesn't mean I like it. I'm about to drift back off when the thin, high sound of my alarm cuts through the air. I sigh in defeat and stumble out of bed.

Grabbing all my necessities I head to the bathroom for a shower. The warm water doesn't do much to wake me up and I'm still yawning by the time I get downstairs for breakfast. I don't bother with make-up and leave my hair down to dry naturally. I stuff myself with cereal before heading out.

The rain lets up to a light drizzle and is almost compleetly stopped by the time I reach school. I meet up with Chloe at our lockers and I launch into story about Nico driving me home. As expected she starts to freak out, her body nearly vibrating in excitement.

"Omg, he's so sweet!" she exclaims, clutching her hands to her heart "He's like, your Prince Charming the way he rescued you!"

I snort and roll my eyes "He didn't 'rescue' me. He gave me a ride home because he say I looked 'pathetic'. There's no need to start planning our wedding."

She sighs "Really, Pilot you need to work on your romantacism."

The bells rings then and we both head off to our classes. I walk into science and sit in my usual place. The rest of the class files in, including my 'hero' Nico. He grins when he sees me and much to my dimay, takes the seat to my right.

He smirks when he sees me shifting uncomfortably "Good morning, Pilot."

His voice is smooth like water running over rocks and I almost sigh out loud before I catch myself. He makes my name sound like a secret only he understands. I turn to look at him and regret it immediety when I find myself getting lost in the depts of his ridicously blue eyes.

I clear my throat and blush lightly "Good morning, Nicolas."

He frowns at the use of his full name but he grins after his eyes look me up and down "Well you're certainly looking a lot better. Not so much like a drowned rat."

I glare at him and before I can respond, the teacher appears in the classroom. And I do mean she just appears there. I swear I didn't see her walk in and suddenly she's standing there, book in hand. I shake my head and focus on what's she's saying. All the while trying to convince myself that blue is not my new favourite colour.

As I'm leaving the classroom I feel a hand on my waist and a familar husky voice in my ear "I was trying to say that you look good. Really good." His warm, minty breathe on my ear and neck makes me shiver involuntary. Just as suddenly as it appeared the hand leaves my waist and I let out a breathe I wasn't aware I was holding.

I spin around and catch the back the back of Nico's head through the crowd. I stare after him for a minute before I come back to my senses and hustle off to my next class.
