"Chat Noir!" I cried out, tears pooling in my eyes. "You don't have to do this!"
"Sorry, my lady. But I do," Chat Noir smiled as the dark mist devoured him.
BEEP. BEEP.
My eyes shot open and my hand flew to my chest.
"Marinette? What's wrong?" Tikki yawned.
I panted heavily. I didn't know how to respond. I didn't even remember my dream.
"J-just some weird dream. Nothing to worry about?" I reassured.
"Whatever you say, Marinette," Tikki flew back to her bed.
I look to my right for the time. 7:15.
I groaned. I didn't feel the best.
"Marinette?" Tikki rose once again to touch my forehead. "Oh my god!" Tikki quickly pulled back her hand.
"What?" I coughed.
"You're burning up! I don't think you should go to school today!" Tikki exclaimed.
"Marinette?" I heard my mom call. She poked her head through the trapdoor. "Are you okay?"
"I don't think so," I groaned.
My mom approached me and placed her hand on my forehead. "Marinette! You're burning up!"
"Everything alright here?" my dad entered.
"Marinette has a fever," my mom rushed downstairs to grab medicine.
"What happened?" my dad widened his eyes.
I groaned in response.
My mom emerged and placed a thermometer in my mouth.
"102 degrees (38 degrees Celsius)" my dad mumbled.
"Just stay home for the day sweetie. We'll call the school," my mom reassured me as the two walked downstairs.
"Marinette! Are you okay?" Tikki exclaimed.
"I'm fine," I grumbled, pulling a blanket over me.
A few minutes later, Alya texted me.
Alya: where are you??
Mari: I'm stuck at home with a fever
Mari: Can you bring me the homework?
Alya: oh that sucks. Sure, I'll bring it right away after school.
Mari: ThanksI shut off my phone and soon enough, I was asleep.

"Chat Noir! Where are you?" I called out into the darkness.
"Right here, princess," Chat Noir slurred as a shiver ran up my spine.
Looking up, I saw two emerald eyes staring down at me. "Chat Noir, please!" I pleaded.
"Sorry princess, but I have to," Chat Noir smiled.
Before I could say anything, drops of water fell on my face. They were warm. Tears.
"Chat Noir!" I cried out.
"I'm so sorry, my lady," Chat Noir chuckled as his voice broke.
"CHAT!" I screamed.
"So, so, sorry," he mumbled.
"CATACLYSM!"
-
"Marinette!" I was shaken awake.
My eyes fluttered open to see Adrien's face looking down onto mine.
"A-adrien!" I exclaimed and my head bumped into his.
"Ow!" he rubbed his forehead.
"I'm so sorry!" I held my forehead.
"Are you okay?" he placed his hand on my forehead. "Looks like your fever has died down," Adrien let out a breath of relief.
"How long have you been here?" I asked.
"An hour or so. Alya told me to come over and give you the homework," Adrien pointed to the small stack of paper on my desk.
Curse you, Alya!
"Are you okay? You looked like you were having a nightmare," Adrien gave me a concerned look.
"I don't remember," I held my head in pain.
"I heard you mumble 'Chat Noir,'" Adrien said.
My eyes widened as bits of the dream returned.
"Here," Adrien placed a wet towel on my head. "You should still rest."
As Adrien leaned over to me, I caught a whiff of what reminded me of a familiar cat.
Camembert.
